Job description

Manager, Solar Project Development Arlington, VA (Hybrid) or Remote, US East Coast / Central time zones preferred

We are a vertically integrated, utility-scale solar and storage independent power producer. We develop, build, own, and operate our projects for the long term across the Mid-Atlantic and PJM and MISO markets. We are growing quickly and are looking for an experienced developer to join our Development team.

The Role You will own a portfolio of utility-scale solar projects and drive them through the development lifecycle, from origination and greenfield through permitting to Notice to Proceed. You will lead community and stakeholder relationships, coordinate internal teams across legal, environmental, GIS, interconnection, and finance, and serve as the project champion that keeps your projects moving toward construction.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the development of a portfolio of utility-scale solar projects across their lifecycle.
  • Research and secure permits, coordinating with local consultants and attorneys on applications and filings.
  • Represent the company at permitting hearings, including expert witness testimony when required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with state and county officials, landowners, residents, and industry groups to support permitting.
  • Manage site control activities including leases, easements, options, and road use agreements, including extensions and renewals.
  • Coordinate interconnection efforts and work cross-functionally with internal engineering, legal, environmental, and finance teams.
  • Oversee external consultants and manage project budget, schedule, and risk.
  • Provide regular progress and timeline updates to leadership.

What You'll Bring

  • 4+ years of project development experience. Direct utility-scale solar or BESS development strongly preferred.
  • A proven track record of taking projects from origination through to NTP.
  • Strong knowledge of county and state permitting and zoning processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to own projects independently while collaborating across teams in a lean, fast-moving environment.
  • Undergraduate degree in a development-related field.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to conduct site visits over undeveloped land.

Location Based in our Arlington, VA headquarters. Remote considered for candidates located in Eastern or Central time zones. Relocation assistance available.
