You move fast with good judgment, dig deep with curiosity, and make decisions from first principles, balancing speed and rigor.
You're humble and collaborative; turn zeroโ€‘toโ€‘one ideas into real products, and you "get stuff done" end-to-end. You use AI to work smarter and solve problems faster. About the team
The Social Impact team at Airwallex is responsible for defining and delivering the company's social impact strategy across our global footprint. We work at the intersection of business growth and social good, partnering with teams across the company to create meaningful, measurable impact in the communities where Airwallex operates. The team is early-stage and globally distributed, offering the opportunity to shape a function from the ground up while leveraging the infrastructure of an 11B+ fintech platform.
What you'll do
Reporting to the Director of Social Impact, the Senior Manager, Social Impact will be building and implementing Airwallex's impact initiatives and strategy around the world. You will play a critical role in building Airwallex's impact function globally - it is a "zero to one" role, a startup within a startup.
The remit of Airwallex's impact function can best be understood as a question: How can Airwallex - a purpose-driven business that exists to help businesses thrive - leverage its unique constellation of business assets (e.g., product, technology, data, talent, capital, brand, network) to contribute to society, while ensuring activities help support Airwallex's long-term business objectives, whether it be strengthening brand trust, contributing to the employee value proposition, etc. A core part of the role will be leading our initiative to drive Airwallex platform adoption amongst organizations that serve the world such as social enterprises, nonprofits, and multilaterals, and thereby helping these organizations better serve the world. You will also have opportunities to lead a variety of other initiatives, and will only be bounded by your own capacity.
Airwallex's commitment to impact is underpinned by its participation in Pledge 1%, a global movement for corporate impact, where Airwallex has pledged 1% of its equity, product, profits, and time toward contributing to society.
This hybrid role is based in San Francisco, CA
Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of Airwallex's social impact strategy
  • Lead all social impact priorities in the U.S., including designing and launching a marquis U.S. impact program
  • Lead or support a variety of global social impact priorities, which could include - driving Airwallex platform adoption amongst nonprofits and social enterprises, refining and operationalizing our ESG strategy, developing our giving strategy & fund structure, designing & launching product features to activate giving, activating our data for public good (in partnership with data science team), strengthening our high-impact volunteering programs, etc.
  • Cultivate a robust external network globally in relevant areas and source high-impact opportunities for Airwallex to consider pursuing
  • Work cross-functionally across the Airwallex organization - e.g., with leadership, communications / corporate affairs, marketing, commercial, product, design - to build buy-in, align priorities, and implement initiatives with quality
  • Operate as an "entrepreneur" within Airwallex, launching, refining, and scaling high-impact initiatives
  • Drive communications and narrative storytelling both within Airwallex and publicly on our social impact strategy & initiatives
  • Support our President/Co-founder and Director of Social Impact on impact-related priorities as they arise

Who you are
We're looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in a rigorous business environment (e.g., management consulting, top-tier tech co) and impact environment (e.g., social impact, CSR, sustainability)
  • Experience and comfort in both corporate/commercial and impact contexts and able to bridge the two (e.g., those who have worked at the intersection of corporate x impact, or business x government)
  • Track record of delivering outsized results and high level of ownership
  • Experience and comfort operating globally, including independently working in and launching new markets
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute social impact strategy, including program design, stakeholder engagement, governance, and measurement
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, including with senior executives, board members, external partners, and nonprofit/government audiences

Preferred qualifications:
