JOB DESCRIPTION

Hotel Manteo is a boutique coastal hotel located in the heart of historic Manteo on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. We are committed to providing exceptional guest experiences, personalized hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere for travelers visiting one of the region’s most popular waterfront destinations.

We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on, and experienced Hotel General Manager to lead daily operations, inspire team performance, and drive guest satisfaction and financial success.


Position Summary

The General Manager will oversee all aspects of hotel operations including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, guest services, sales, revenue management, and team leadership. The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional with strong operational knowledge, leadership ability, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

This role requires a proactive leader who can balance guest experience, employee engagement, and profitability while maintaining the hotel’s boutique culture and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day hotel operations and overall property performance
  • Lead and motivate hotel staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and develop team members
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores and online reviews to maintain strong reputation management
  • Oversee front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and operational departments
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and hospitality best practices
  • Manage budgets, labor costs, payroll, purchasing, and operational expenses
  • Drive revenue growth through occupancy management, ADR optimization, and local sales initiatives
  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and quality standards
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently
  • Partner with ownership on operational goals, reporting, and strategic planning


Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Hotel General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or Operations Manager
  • Boutique hotel or independent property experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience with hotel PMS systems and revenue management tools
  • Proven ability to improve guest satisfaction and operational performance
  • Financial management and budgeting experience required
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
