Description:

Overview: Production Supervisor will oversee our production operations, ensuring specific manufacturing processes run efficiently according to procedure by monitoring employees and organizing workflows.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Sets-up both automatic and manual gaging in a production environment.

· Works with maintenance to maximize efficiency of inspection equipment.

· Troubleshoots minor robot issues and reinitiate as necessary.

· Analyzes daily schedule to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.

· Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.

· Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.

· Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.

· Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.

· Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

· Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

· Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

· Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.

· Maintains time and production records.

· Reviews daily labor tickets for accuracy and completeness.

· Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials such as pallets, shot material, shrink wrap, banding, etc.

· Schedules and utilizes the work force within the bounds of safety and contract requirements.

· Sets-up and troubleshoots the Inspection equipment.

· Communicates breakdowns to the maintenance department.

· Enacts whatever changes that are necessary to get special duties performed. This may include straightening, salvage work, sorting, etc.

· Updates computer files as necessary.

· Efficiently manages the product flow to meet customer requirements.

· Communicates regularly with all shifts to maintain continuity.

· Performs gage calibration activities as required.

· Participates in cross training in other functional areas for job rotation and/or support as needed.

· Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

· Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Education and /or Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing management, business administration, Associate’s degree, or equivalent work experience.

· High School Diploma minimum, or associate’s degree.

  • 1+ years' experience of working as a Production Supervisor or other similar position.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Demonstrated experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools.

Key Competencies

Communication Skills:

· Ability to effectively report relevant data and job specific information as needed.

· Ability to provide detailed descriptions through written and verbal communications and work machine conditions and status.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:

· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.

· Ability to apply basic and complex math concepts.

Computer Skills

· Ability to navigate basic technology including but not limited to use of digital self-service platforms, time clock and other systems where applicable.

· Practical knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft office, PowerPoint, outlook, excel.

Additional Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Prior forging related processing/inspection experience and /or a, willingness to learn.
  • Hands-on supervisory experience a must. Most of the day will be spent on the shop floor directing workflow and employees.
  • The ability to learn all aspects of all jobs in the department.

Physical Demands:

· Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts.

· Use carts, dollies, cranes, and jacks to transport material if needed.

· Must be able to regularly lift and or move up to 25 lbs.

· Climbing ladders and stairs to reach work at potential heights of 30 ft or more.

· Navigate narrow walkways, confined spaces and overhead mezzanines.

· Tolerate potentially extreme temperature fluctuations impacted by weather and machinery.

· Acclimate to high noise and vibration levels in workspaces.

· Wear and adhere to all PPE guidelines including hard hats, protective eye wear, ear plugs, and approved footwear with metatarsal and steel toe safeguards.

· Comfortable working in confined work environments

Work Environment:
The Production Supervisor interacts with historic machinery throughout the facility which often involves proximity to heat, noise, debris, conveyance systems and other potentially dangerous equipment. The Production Supervisor will encounter high levels of floor and overhead traffic due to material transportation throughout the facility which can cause high levels of vibration and airborne disturbances. There are areas of paved and unpaved walkways, active shipping lanes and occasionally standing water to be cautious of.
