The Oregon City, OR Site was established in 1969 and joined the Orchid team in 2012. The site focuses primarily on investment casting and 3D wax printing and machining and finishing and coating of orthopedic implants for extremities and large joint markets.
Robotic wax assembly, internal tool and design, finished machining, polishing, and sintered bead coating are key capabilities of the site. Our 80,000 square foot, FDA registered site employs approximately 175 team members. We ship nearly 1 million hip and knee joint implants to our customers who, in turn, provide solutions that enable patients to live longer, active lives. Fully integrated, our site manufactures medical implants from start to finish complying with the ISO 13485:2016 standard.

A BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Manufacturing Engineer II assists in planning and designing manufacturing processes in a production facility under direction from senior engineers and other leaders. He/she maximizes efficiency through improving production methods, including analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. They also support the implementation of program commitments, and work with a team to deliver on commitments and program management milestones. He/she carries out engineering assignments of limited scope and complexity and is responsible for a project or operation requiring a thorough knowledge of engineering and related fields (quality control, time and motion studies, etc.). His/her work is reviewed and guidance given by more senior engineers. He/she may give limited technical guidance to junior professionals or technicians working on a common project.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews with internal teams. Review drawings, 3D models, and specifications to facilitate manufacturability.
  • Create, request, and/or update various documentation including customer-specific requirements, non-disclosure agreements, routings, and Bill of Materials.
  • Assist in designing and managing the fabrication or acquisition of fixtures used in various processes. Ensure the successful implementation of fixtures on the production floor.
  • Assist in creating programs (such as Laser Marking programs),3D models, associates fixtures, drawings, templates, overlays, etc.
  • Participate in and occasionally lead problem solving teams utilizing lean manufacturing methods.
  • Collaborate with Operations Analysts to ensure data is available, monitored, and reported with a consistent approach. Support implementation of any management system at the site level.
  • Participate in ensuring processes are in place to deliver site annual and strategic objectives, including but not limited to OEE and VAPD performance, productivity, capacity planning, and capital investment.
  • Participate in the required training that is delivered to the site team in support of site goals, objectives, and program management milestones.
  • Assist in creating Standard Work Instructions for various operations
  • Interact and communicate with customers to inform them of critical details on new product launches.
  • Perform and assists in validations and revalidations.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor Engineering or related field (Required)

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ Years of Engineering Experience (Required)
  • 5+ Years of Engineering Experience (Preferred)
  • Experience with Orchid's Manufacturing Process (Preferred)
