Join a Growing, Multi-State Small Business in our comfortable Chagrin Falls Village Office.

We are a growing business-to-business drinking water company with approximately 60 employees across six offices in Ohio, Georgia, Maryland, and California.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage key day-to-day accounting functions and help strengthen the financial processes that support our continued growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a small-business environment, taking ownership of their responsibilities, and partnering closely with company leadership and an outside CPA firm.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple accounting priorities. This person should be able to work independently, identify discrepancies, improve processes, and communicate clearly with management, employees, vendors, suppliers, and outside partners.

What You’ll Do

General Accounting and Month-End Close

  • Manage day-to-day general ledger accounting activities
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Support an accurate and timely month-end and year-end close
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Research and resolve account discrepancies
  • Work closely with the outside CPA firm to provide documentation and support

Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll

  • Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collection efforts
  • Review accounts payable activity to ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time
  • Support payroll processing and help resolve payroll-related discrepancies
  • Verify recurring payments, debt obligations, and other scheduled expenses
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation

Inventory and Cost Accounting

  • Reconcile inventory and related costing activity each month
  • Communicate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Review purchasing, inventory, and cost information for accuracy
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory controls and reporting

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
  • Track financial and operational performance metrics
  • Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Help maintain accurate cash flow reporting and projections

Process Improvement and Business Support

  • Maintain accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and efficiency
  • Assist with company insurance, banking, and 401(k) documentation as needed
  • Support leadership with special projects and financial analysis
  • Help ensure accounting practices remain consistent across multiple offices and states

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous experience as a Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on, analytical, and problem-solving mindset
  • Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, or multi-location operations is preferred

This is an opportunity to join a stable, growing small business where your work will directly impact the company’s financial accuracy and operational success.

You will have the opportunity to take ownership of important accounting functions, improve processes, work closely with leadership, and grow with a company operating across multiple states.

Compensation is dependent upon experience.
