Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the organization's Quality Management System to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role serves as the primary coordinator for internal and external audits, while providing independent oversight to ensure processes are effective, documented, and consistently followed across Production Operations. The Quality Engineer partners closely with operations, engineering, and leadership to identify risks, drive corrective
actions, and support a culture of continuous improvement.
Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Oversees the maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System.
• Coordinates and manages external ISO 9001 audits and certifications.
• Investigates and diagnoses internal and external problem root causes and leads the corrective action process.
• Develops, implements, and manages processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.
• Identifies and sets appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.
• Communicates quality standards and parameters to the production operations team and other appropriate staff.
• Provides quality & manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests.
• Assists and performs quality functions as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally to all levels of Vontas and customers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database experience.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education and Experience:
• Three years of experience with Quality Management Systems.
• ISO 9001 experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer/laptop.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (including domestic and international), sometimes for extended periods, which may involve sitting during transit and walking at various locations.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to handle high utilization of hand and wrist dexterity.
