Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities: This position supports the NMRC Director in day-to-day operations, coordinating across partner institutions, managing project workflows, tracking fiscal and contractual obligations, perform some procurement and accounting duties, and maintaining stakeholder communications. This is a coordination and implementation role: this position will execute on direction set by the Director, with increasing autonomy as they build familiarity with NMRC's institutional landscape and operational systems. The role requires strong organizational skills, effective written and verbal communication in both English and Spanish, and the ability to work diplomatically across institutional boundaries
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:Associate's Degree + 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 4 years of relevant experience.
Equivalent Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:• Bachelors degree plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or Masters degree plus 3 years. Experience must include coordination or management responsibilities in a government, non-profit, academic, or multi-institutional environment.
• Native or professional fluency in Spanish and English, with demonstrated ability to communicate in both languages in professional and community settings.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects with attention to deadlines and deliverables
• Familiarity with budget tracking, procurement processes, or grant reporting in an institutional setting
• Strong written communications skills in both English and Spanish
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn other project management tools as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with tribal or indigenous community engagement, particularly in New Mexico or the broader Southwest
• Experience contributing to organizational culture development or building institutional systems from an early stage
• Familiarity with NMSU systems or comparable university procurement and fiscal environments (Banner preferred)
• Experience with GIS, environmental data management, or natural resources programs
• Experience supporting grant writing or funding development
• Knowledge of New Mexico state agency structure, legislative processes, or land management context

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
