Job Description
The Manager of Projects has overall responsibility for the technical, budget, schedule, managerial, administrative and financial execution of all projects to which Project Management procedure OPM-PRO-00001 applies. The Manager of Projects reports to the Senior Vice President, Vice President Operations, Vice President Offshore or the delegated representative. The Manager of Projects position is a management-level position, with both technical and management responsibilities.
Schedule and Location:
  • The position has a hybrid work schedule consisting of Tuesday through Thursday in the office. Monday and Friday provide the option to work remotely or from the office.
  • This open role is located at our modern ten-story corporate headquarters in Spring, Texas.

What You Will Do:
  • Assumes the lead role in the development of budgets, schedules, and profit objectives for assigned projects subject to approval from Senior Management to ensure projects remain within requirements of the specific contract.
  • Assumes the lead role in negotiating budgets, schedules, project terms, and conditions on specific proposal opportunities.
  • Works to establish staffing requirements in support of project execution plan.
  • Assures projects are set up and project management files are established and maintained in accordance with established ABS procedures.
  • Provides direction to and oversight of the Project Managers on team.
  • Reviews project metrics to ensure that execution is within approved budget, schedule, and in accordance with company quality requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, managing expectations and resolving conflicts.
  • Actively monitors client feedback and service delivery status and serves as a supplementary point of contact for clients on assigned projects.
  • Appraises the performance and development potential of direct subordinates and recommends appropriate compensation adjustments.
  • Coordinates with Financial Services Group, Operations, and Engineering to assure that payment on outstanding invoices are forthcoming in a timely manner.
  • Works with Financial Services Group, Senior Leadership in Operations to establish department headcount requirements and annual budget targets for revenue and contribution margins.
  • Provides oversight of time charge records, expense reports, invoice approvals, and collections status notices in accordance with company procedures.
  • Drive innovation in project management processes, tools and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure projects align with organizational goals and contribute to overall strategic objectives.
  • Establish and communicate the vision for project management within the organization.
  • Leading organizational change initiatives to enhance project delivery capabilities.
  • Engage with executive leadership to influence business planning and decision-making.

What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, preferably in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
  • An advanced degree or comparable on-the-job experience is also required.
  • Experience with enterprise-level, industry-standard Project/Portfolio Management (PPM) tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Clarity and conciseness in oral and written communications; demonstrated capability to produce effective presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to achieve process changes and departmental goals within a matrix organization; ability to communicate appropriately and work well with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to assess organizational, administrative, and project management skills and bring solutions and concrete actions to bear in areas needing assistance.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; proven track record of successful enterprise-level project results.
  • Must be an intelligent, articulate, and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the senior management team and who can communicate project management-related concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of theoretical (PMBOK) and practical aspects of project management.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to know the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or formal education in Project Management desired

Reporting Relationships:
Depending on geography reports directly to the Project Management Office or the VP of Application Services. This position may have direct reports.
Base Salary Range:
$105,000 - $145,000 per year (depending on experience and qualifications)
Working Conditions:
Work will generally be performed in an air-conditioned office environment. A member of the clerical support staff will provide assistance. May be required to travel occasionally. Occasionally, you may have to lift between 5 and 15 pounds.
