The Opportunity:

We're looking to fill an opening for a Leave of Absence and Accommodation Program Manager to join our People & Culture team.

Reporting to the Director, Strategic HR Business Partner, the Leave of Absence and Accommodation Program Manager will play a key role in building, formalizing, and managing Aviso's leave, disability management, workplace accommodation, and return-to-work programs. This is an opportunity to shape a highly sensitive and important area of the employee experience by establishing scalable frameworks, governance, workflows, tracking, and reporting while ensuring day-to-day program administration is delivered with care, consistency, and compliance.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and enhance program infrastructure, improve processes and governance, and provide trusted guidance to leaders, HR partners, employees, and external providers. Working within a collaborative People & Culture team, this role will help create a more seamless, compliant, and employee-centred experience for individuals navigating leaves, accommodations, and workplace reintegration while ensuring the programs are effectively maintained, administered, monitored, and continuously improved.

What your day looks like:

  • Lead the ongoing evolution of leave of absence and workplace accommodation programs, which will include identifying opportunities to modernize processes, improve employee experience, strengthen governance, and align practices with organizational objectives
  • Oversee the intake, case coordination, documentation and resolution of complex leave, disability, and accommodation cases, including return-to-work planning and implementation of appropriate workplace adjustments
  • Provide expert guidance to leaders, HR, and employees on leave entitlements, accommodation requirements, and compliance obligations
  • Advise on and administer all statutory leaves, ensuring employees and leaders receive clear guidance and that leave processes are managed consistently and in compliance with applicable legislation
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure consistent, compliant, and efficient program delivery
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, legislation, human rights, disability, privacy, and occupational health requirements while mitigating organizational risk
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external providers to coordinate effective case management and resolve escalations
  • Monitor program activity, trends, and outcomes, including responsibility for tracking program metrics and preparing regular reporting to support service delivery, strengthen governance, and enhance employee experience

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • An undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Health Disability Management or related field. CHRP, CHRL, Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), or related designation is considered an asset
  • 7+ years of relevant HR experience with 3-5 years specifically in leave of absence, disability management, or workplace accommodation
  • Strong knowledge of applicable employment legislation, human rights obligations, disability management principles, privacy requirements, and return-to-work practices
  • Experience managing complex employee cases, with exceptional organizational skills and risk awareness, and the ability to adapt to changing business needs, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential cases with strong discretion, sound judgment, and strict adherence to privacy and legal requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to develop policies, processes, and program frameworks in a regulated or complex organizational environment
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required to effectively communicate with partners, clients, and colleagues across Canada and bilingual skills in French are an asset
