Job description

Veterans United Craft Brewery is looking to hire a Taproom Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the operations, service and marketing of the taproom and special events room.

We are looking for a responsible, mature individual who can build relationships with our employees, guests and community members in order to build sales, guest counts and the brand. Hospitality or service background is required. Being a military veteran is a plus. This individual should possess a strong understanding of business and financial management as well as people and how to develop a brand. They must have a proven track record of successfully managing projects and demonstrating good leadership abilities.

The Taproom Manager primarily will be responsible for all aspects of taproom operations, smoothly orchestrating all day-to-day activities and special events held at the brewery. Taproom sales and guest count growth will be a daily focus. The manager should be a conscientious, enterprising individual who is personable and likes interacting with people. Equally, they must possess a solid work ethic and time management skills, and demonstrate good leadership abilities.

Talents to possess include being able to develop bartenders and building bar regulars. The ideal candidate will also have a broad knowledge of craft brewing and beer styles and will be able to engage with craft beer novices and experts alike. The candidate will gladly give brewery tours and train/inspire others to do the same with energy, passion, and dedication to the brand.

Responsibilities:

  • Profit and Loss responsibility of “Front-end Operations”. This includes taproom sales, special events bookings, and brewery events. Increased sales and guest counts. Check average and top dollar sales hours. Number of booking and success of events. Meeting sales and ops goals.
  • Day-to-day management of the taproom. This may/will require you to be present for the opening and closing of the taproom. Especially peak hours and special events.
  • Plan and manage the taproom's food operations (limited bar food menu).
  • Putting together action plans for events and initiatives. These plans will include revenue/cost estimates, project timeline, promotional activities, staffing, and other logistical requirements.
  • Plan and execute events in the taproom and special events room. Ensure events are being executed in accordance with the event room agreement and standard operating procedures.
  • Actively seek out new rental customers, business opportunities, and partners for the taproom and special events room. Build relationships, attend networking events.
  • Managing and scheduling taproom bartenders. Responsible for scheduling, training, managing, and developing taproom bartenders.
  • Source, negotiate, and schedule food trucks, musicians, and entertainment for the taproom.
  • Utilize a Point of Sale system to conduct customer transactions and run reports.
  • Maintain taproom merchandise inventory.
  • Coordinate with other members of the company who are conducting outreach activities (e.g. charity events, veteran and military liaisons).
  • Be available to represent the brewery for special taproom events and for off-site activities such as beer and other festivals, charity events, beer dinners, client tours, etc.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the taproom, event room, bathrooms, and breakroom.
  • Ensuring all of our customers have the best possible experience in the taproom.

Requirements:

  • MUST HAVE HOSPITALITY or SERVICE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IN A MANGEMENT POSITION.
  • Must be a certified food manager or must be certified within 2 months of accepting the position.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing personnel and major projects or initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal, written and personal communication skills.
  • Be well organized and detail-oriented.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to know when additional assistance is needed.
  • Ability to build sales and guest counts.
  • High comfort level in working in a start-up company environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership. Ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • High energy and excitement for our vision, our beers, and the craft beer industry.
  • Computer expertise and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), Google Docs, and other software programs.
  • Good understanding or ability to quickly learn marketing promotions and public relations campaigns.
  • Familiarity with using the web and social media tools.
  • The ability to work flexible shifts and schedules; evening and weekend hours required.
  • The ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • The ability to transport kegs with a dolly.
  • Strong work ethic which includes dedication, professionalism, and integrity.

Company Description

Veterans United Craft Brewery is a Veteran owned and operated business located in Jacksonville, FL. The brewery was founded in 2013 and began production in the spring of 2014. We have a 20 bbl. brewhouse with several 40 bbl. fermentation vessels. The brewery operates a taproom and special events room for on-premise retail sales. Our beers are distributed in cans and kegs in several regions of Florida.
