Job description

Rain Delay Media is hiring a Social Media Producer to own the social and digital strategy for a Jalen Rose-led video podcast. This is a strategy and editorial role that will set the showโ€™s social direction, standards, and content strategy across platforms and make calls on how the show shows up and is packaged โ€” with hands-on production of select content.

ABOUT COMPANY:

Rain Delay Media is an award-winning production company powering sports' biggest athletes and creators across YouTube, podcasts and social media, including Road Trippin' with Richard Jefferson, Kickin' It with Deestroying and Club 30 with Henrik Lundqvist. Same Page Entertainment is a Detroit-based multi-media production company founded by Jalen Rose and Tom Gores focused on celebrating the rich culture, creativity, history, and talent found in Detroit and across Michigan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Social Strategy & Standards

  • Own and set the social and channel strategy for the show โ€” brand voice, channel identity, content mix, posting cadence, and platform approach โ€” exercising independent judgment on how the show is positioned and packaged.
  • Determine what show social content is produced, prioritized, and published, and how episodes and clips are packaged for performance.
  • Establish the playbook, workflows, and quality standards the social and production functions follow, and evolve them as platforms and performance data change.
  • Independently evaluate social performance data and determine the resulting changes to content, packaging, and strategy.
  • Direct, review, and set the standards for the work of social contractors, contributors, and any future direct reports supporting the shows.

Channel Management, Community & Analytics

  • Program the show social calendar and set the creative direction for platform-native content (clips, Shorts, carousels), briefing and directing the editor(s) and contributors who execute it.
  • Own day-to-day community strategy and engagement, and audience growth, across show Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X, exercising judgment on sensitive or high-visibility engagement.
  • Own show analytics and reporting, and translate insights into strategic changes to content, packaging, and approach.
  • Partner with show sales and partnerships on sponsored content, ensuring brand and campaign standards are met.
  • Produce and publish select show social content directly, and step in on execution as the function grows.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Video Editor and production team so show social output aligns with the showโ€™s look, voice, and schedule.

Studio & On-Location

  • Support Senior Video Editor participating in post and studio systems and operations alongside the Supervising Producer.

Stakeholder & Talent Partnership

  • Provide thoughtful, constructive feedback and industry best practices to executive producers and talent on content and digital presence, offered as input and recommendations within the creative direction.
  • Build relationships with, and become a trusted partner to, the client and talent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years in social media for a brand, creator, or media company โ€” spanning both strategy and hands-on execution, ideally in sports, podcasts, or entertainment.
  • Strong platform fluency (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X), analytics, and short-form/clip sensibility.
  • Sharp copywriting and an instinct for voice, tone, and what drives engagement.
  • Comfortable owning strategy and exercising independent judgment, not just executing a calendar.
  • Excellent storytelling, pacing, and an instinct for what performs on YouTube and social.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends when the production calendar demands it
  • Genuine passion for sports, culture, and what Detroit represents
  • Existing relationships in Detroitโ€™s media, music, or sports community
  • Self-directed with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Reliable transportation to studio location
  • Based in or near Detroit, and able to work hybrid from downtown Detroit studio

Rain Delay Media is an equal opportunity employer. The description provided above is meant to convey the typical scope and responsibility for individuals in this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
