Job Summary

Nordson is seeking a highly skilled IT Manager to lead our HRIS team. The HRIS Manager provides both people leadership and technical leadership for Nordson's HR technology ecosystem, ensuring architecture, solution design, delivery standards, security, integrations, and technology roadmaps align with business objectives.

The HRIS Manager leads the delivery, support, enhancement, and optimization of Nordson's global HR technology solutions. Partnering closely with HR and Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) teams, this role ensures HR technology solutions effectively support business objectives, operational needs, and digital transformation initiatives.

This position is accountable for the performance and results of the HRIS function, including team leadership, system administration, solution delivery, vendor management, and continuous improvement. The role provides technical leadership across Workday, UKG, Dayforce, integrations, reporting, analytics, automation, and emerging technologies (AI and automation) while ensuring scalable, reliable, and secure HR solutions that deliver business value.

The ideal candidate combines strong HRIS technical expertise, people leadership, project delivery experience, and business acumen to build a high-performing team and advance Nordson's HR technology strategy.

The role is also expected to accomplish other responsibilities as defined.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

HR Technology Leadership:

  • Provide technical and functional leadership for the HR technology portfolio, including architecture direction, solution design oversight, integrations, reporting, security, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Lead the delivery, support, and optimization of HR technology platforms, including Workday, UKG Dimensions, Dayforce, and related applications.
  • Review, guide, and approve complex solution designs to ensure alignment with business priorities and enterprise technology standards, security, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Partner with HR, IT, and business stakeholders to identify requirements and implement solutions that support organizational objectives.
  • Establish standards, governance processes, adoption strategies, and best practices for HR technology platforms and service delivery, including AI and automation solutions across the HR technology landscape.
  • Contribute to HR technology roadmaps and planning activities in partnership with HR and IT leadership.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI and automation, and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, user experience, and business outcomes.
  • Support budget planning, forecasting, vendor management, and resource allocation activities.

Solution Delivery & Operations:

  • Lead implementation, enhancement, maintenance, and support activities for HR technology solutions.
  • Ensure systems are configured and maintained in accordance with business requirements, security standards, and compliance expectations.
  • Oversee system releases, testing, deployments, upgrades, and change management activities.
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Oversee HR data management, integrations, reporting, and overall system health.
  • Drive continuous improvement of support processes, documentation, governance, and service delivery practices.

Project & Vendor Management

  • Partner with PMO, HR leadership, and business stakeholders to successfully deliver HR technology initiatives and projects.
  • Coordinate activities across business teams, vendors, and technical resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Support Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies as appropriate.
  • Manage vendor relationships, monitor service levels, and ensure effective delivery of contracted services.

Talent Management & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of HRIS professionals.
  • Develop team technical capabilities through mentoring, coaching, and advancement of HR technology, integration, reporting, automation, and AI competencies.
  • Establish team goals, performance expectations, and development plans aligned with departmental objectives.
  • Manage resource allocation, workload prioritization, and capacity planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical and functional guidance to support employee development and organizational success.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Establish and monitor operational, project, service delivery, adoption, and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Provide regular performance updates and recommendations to HR and IT leadership.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and implement actions to improve team effectiveness and system performance.
  • Support departmental planning through operational reporting, resource analysis, and strategic recommendations.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Human Resources Information Systems, Business Systems, or a related field. Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting, implementing, or managing HRIS platforms and enterprise applications.
  • Strong experience with Workday and related HR technologies supporting functions such as Recruiting, Talent, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Learning, and Time & Attendance.
  • Experience leading HR technology implementations, integrations, system upgrades, and enhancement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of HR business processes, solution delivery, and business process analysis.
  • Experience with workflow automation, AI-enabled capabilities, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience managing vendors and third-party technology service providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing departmental priorities, budgets, and resource planning.

Preferred Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Prior people leadership experience managing professional employees and/or technical analysts.
  • Workday certifications or equivalent HR technology certifications.
  • Experience supporting global HR organizations and multi-country operations.
  • Knowledge of HR compliance, reporting, data governance, and security practices.
  • Experience with HR system integrations, analytics, and reporting solutions.
