Job description

The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) provides quality water supply, water pollution control, mapping, and household hazardous waste collection to eight member municipalities: Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor. Additionally, the MDC provides drinking water to portions of Farmington, Glastonbury, East Granby and South Windsor, known as the MDC's non-member towns . DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES : The purpose of this classification is to supervise and manage District water distribution and wastewater collection pipelines and related systems and facilities.

Work involves directing pipeline systems maintenance and repair, meter reading, maintenance and repair, stock services, and budget development and administration. PERTINENT DETAILS : Open posting. District employees and external applicants will be considered.

A screening of all applicants will be conducted by the Human Resources Office, which may include referral to an oral panel process. The top-rated applicants will be referred to the Department Head or the designated representative for an interview. The Department Head shall make the final selection.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION : Relevant education, experience, skills, managerial/supervisory ability, and performance aptitudes as reflected in the position's job specification. Must have a valid driver's license. Requires a CT Class III Operator Water Distribution System Certificate; and a Connecticut Professional Engineer's License is preferred.
