Job description

SUMMARY 

Mortenson is currently seeking a Project Manager of Project Solutions responsible for coordinating, assisting, training, and seeking to continuously improve the day-to-day function of our project control processes used by Mortenson project teams. This role blends strong construction knowledge with technology delivery - configuring, supporting, and improving project workflows. This role will also help identify, pilot, and operationalize AI-enabled capabilities within our project facing systems (e.g. Procore, Datagrid, Clearstory, Build Cognition, Bridgit, etc). 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support and training for all processes and tools used by the project team via ad hoc consultations, webinars, written documentation and on-demand video education

  • Configure, support, and continuously improve our project facing systems to align with stand project delivery process & procedures.

  • Identify high-value AI opportunities embedded in system workflows (e.g., automated metadata tagging, process summarization, search, and issue trend detection.

  • Partner with Data & AI functions to translate field problems into AI requirements (inputs/outputs, acceptance criteria, guardrails, and team member-in-the-loop steps). 

  • Support AI development efforts by contributing construction subject matter experts input, building and labeling sample datasets, defining evaluation scenarios, and validating results with end users.

  • Support AI operations by helping establish monitoring and continuous-improvement loops: user feedback capture, quality reviews, drift/exception identification, and refresh/retrain triggers as workflows and documents evolve. 

  • Coordinate rollout and change management for AI features, including training, communications, and documentation of “how to use” and “when not to use” guidance. 

  • Translate field needs into workable configurations, standard operation procedures, and trainings that reduce friction for teams

  • Assist with evaluation, prioritization, selection, testing, piloting, and implementation of emerging technologies from project teams

  • Monitor and evaluate software utilization to optimize efficiency of the tools.

  • Challenge the status quo to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational systems to achieve operational excellence at the project site

  • Recommend new technology and processes that will improve project team performance and efficiency and/or provide a competitive advantage to operations

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the talents of team members

  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or equivalent field preferred

  • Preferred 5 years’ experience within the construction technology industry

  • Experience executing construction Project Management Control Processes

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable working directly with field teams and project leadership.

  • Analytical mindset with experience using data to drive process improvements

  • Interest of Experience in AI/Automation (e.g. copilots, prompt-based workflows, document intelligence, classification, summarization, or workflow automation) and curiosity to test new approaches responsibly.

  • Overall understanding of the following construction project management concepts; Project Financial Management, Contract Management, Project controls & document management systems, and general Construction Jobsite Technology Management 

  • Familiar with Lean principles and techniques as well as data governance concepts (privacy, security, access controls) and disciplined change management.

  • Strong teamwork orientation and ability to influence others internally and externally

  • Proficient in analysis, prioritization, and implementation of project solution initiatives

  • Positive attitude and professional customer service skills

  • Proactive thinking and innovative mindset

  • Strong leadership, problem solving, initiative, lean, and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative, team-based environment with a variety of teams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation experience is a plus
