Job Description

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will serve as the primary sales and account management
representative for assigned accounts within our Upstream Oil/Gas vertical, working in close partnership with the
Industry Vertical Leader to achieve strategic growth objectives. This role focuses on driving commercial
growth, securing new business, expanding existing relationships, and providing market intelligence to
inform vertical strategy. This role will coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop tailored solutions,
ensure project success, and maximize Veolia’s value proposition in the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Growth & Strategic Support:

  • Collaborate with the Industry Vertical Leader to develop and execute the vertical market strategy, ensuring alignment of all sales activities with vertical growth goals.
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities that expand Veolia’s footprint within the assigned industry segment.
  • Assist in providing regular market intelligence, competitor analysis, and customer insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support development and go-to-market campaigns, participation in industry events, and technical seminars to strengthen Veolia’s vertical positioning.
  • Coordinate cross-regional or cross-business unit opportunities within the vertical to maximize Veolia’s total value proposition to customers.
  • Track and report on vertical-specific KPIs, revenue pipelines, and market share growth.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Service as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, ensuring exceptional service and long-term partnership.
  • Develop relationships from FEL/PPP through release, including follow up with end users.
  • Negotiate new business closure that promotes sustained revenue

Project & Contract Coordination:

  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure process deliverables meet customer requirements and align with vertical technical standards.
  • Administers client contracts to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction and prompt identification and client notification of scope changes
  • Performs all baseline client relations duties, including preparation and presentation of progress and special reports.
  • Participates in client meetings, special award programs and handles resolution of client service problems in a professional manner.
  • Manage relationships between Veolia organisations and optimize Veolia opportunities.

Safety, Compliance & Company Standards:

  • Maintain awareness of safety and environmental practices relevant to the industry vertical.
  • Learn and maintain awareness of all safety and environmental practices

Qualifications

Core Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical), Biology, or Chemistry, or in any related discipline from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in a product or customer support position in the Water Treatment/Water Process industry)
  • Typically has at least ten years progressive sales experience in a related field with a proven track record and demonstrated aptitude with complex business transactions, pricing and project finance, financial models and spreadsheets. Demonstrates effective technical and proposal writing. At least five years progressive experience within a refinery, chemical plant, or water/wastewater treatment environment with thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, principles, and practices of water and/or process treatment.
  • Working knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (REGAGEP), e.g., ISA, API, etc.
  • Have excellent organization skills and are able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and under deadline pressure.
  • Detail-oriented, able to follow instructions and to communicate with staff to understand assignments or seek clarification as necessary.
  • Experience managing proposals through commercial closure.
  • Abilities in multidisciplinary project teamwork and coordination.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to motivate others.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Proven ability to work in a matrixed environment, collaborating across functions and business lines.
  • Experience supporting or executing strategic plans for industry-specific growth.

Role Boundaries:

  • The BDM is not responsible for executing engineering deliverables but will coordinate with technical teams to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
  • Vertical-level strategy ownership remains with the Industry Vertical Leader; the BDM’s role is to execute and inform that strategy through field intelligence and account action.

Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel within territory, as required
  • Ability and willingness to reside in assigned region, or within customer proximity requirements, as required
  • Work frequently in a heavy industrial environment requiring use of Personal Safety Equipment and exposure to noise, dust, chemicals and other similar irritants typical of those found in refinery, chemical plants, power plants, etc., as required
  • Ability and willingness to comply with stringent drug testing and background check requirements set by customer safety requirements, as required
  • Demonstrated Intermediate to Advanced Computer Skills including MS Office, and other software programs within a Windows environment
