Job description

Position Summary
Put your technology and leadership skills to work in an organization that is improving the lives of more than 15,000 people of all faiths and backgrounds. Through its staff of 250+ professionals, JF&CS provides integrated services to address mental health and well-being, economic insecurity, disability and aging challenges, and more. Our state-wide reputation for excellence is a direct result of the impact of our staff-and our Director of Technology Strategy & Operations ensures that our systems, tools, and infrastructure can fully support that work.
In this newly created role, which reports directly to the CEO, the Director will partner with service line leaders to design, implement and support practical, tailored technology solutions that support staff productivity, improve program operations, and ensure effective use of data. This includes leveraging emerging AI tools to enhance automation, decision-making, and service delivery. A central responsibility is oversight of the agency's enterprise-wide case management system, Exponent Case Management, that is built on the Salesforce platform, and that both supports program operations and enables us to measure our impact. Other key elements include organization-wide knowledge management and productivity tools, program-specific workflows, and staff training. The Director will also manage our IT manager and our MSP, who are responsible for our IT infrastructure, user support, and security.
The Director will blend strategic leadership and innovation with hands-on collaborative partnership with leaders across JF&CS. They will manage a team of 5, including an IT Manager, a Help Desk Technician, two Salesforce Administrators, and our Manager of Evaluation & Impact.
Beyond the technology leadership role, the Director will participate in broad-based organization-wide planning on a wide range of strategic and operational issues.
This is a full‑time position with a hybrid schedule, requiring a minimum of 3 to 4 days per week of in‑person work.
Please note: Rooted in Jewish values, JF&CS is an inclusive organization serving people of all backgrounds. Our diverse staff-including our executive team-intentionally reflects a wide range of faiths and perspectives.
The Role & Its Impact
The Director of Technology Strategy & Operations is responsible for ensuring that our systems are reliable, practical, and aligned with the needs of both staff and clients-and that we use technology to enhance our effectiveness and efficiency. The Director brings a strategic lens to how we invest in and use technology-balancing innovation with usability, and long-term improvements with immediate operational needs. This role requires strong partnership skills, resourcefulness, excellent executive-level judgment, and the ability to translate between technical possibilities and the real-world demands of service delivery.
Key areas of focus include:
  • Partnering with program and service leaders to understand operational needs, translate program needs into effective technology solutions, and ensure that systems support-not complicate-service delivery.
  • Overseeing the agency's case management system, including ongoing administration, enhancement of workflows and reporting, and use of automation, dashboards, and integrations to improve effectiveness.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual processes, including through thoughtful adoption of AI and other tools to support efficiency, documentation, and knowledge sharing
  • Strengthening the organization's use of data and technology tools, improving how information is captured, shared, and used to inform decision-making, enhance productivity, and facilitate consistent cross-agency reporting.
  • Overseeing the work of our IT Manager and MSP to ensure reliable and cost-effective IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity and user support
  • Developing and enforcing policies and procedures to ensure that our technology is secure, compliant, and reliable
  • Leading and developing a high-performing technology team, setting clear priorities, fostering communication and collaborations, and building capacity for both responsive support and proactive systems improvement
  • Managing relationships with external vendors, consultants and partners, overseeing system implementations and integrations, and ensuring alignment with organizational needs, performance expectations, and budget considerations.

Experience, Skills, and Approach
We are seeking an experienced technology leader who combines strategic thinking with practical execution, and who brings a lens of curiosity, collaboration, and thoughtful problem-solving to the work.
Ideal qualifications include:
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible technology experience, including leadership experience
  • A track record of working closely with non-technical stakeholders to design and deliver practical, usable solutions
  • Experience managing enterprise-wide systems, with an eye toward both department-level tailoring and organization-wide data collection; Salesforce experience is a plus
  • A strong orientation toward data collection and measurement
  • Proficient and resourceful in using technical tools and AI to meet organizational needs
  • Able to oversee internal IT infrastructure, which is directly managed by our IT manager and managed service provider
  • Demonstrated success leading teams, and developing staff skills, motivation, and sense of team
  • Experience managing budgets and making financial decisions

The ideal candidate brings:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust, credibility and partnerships across program and administrative teams
  • A collaborative, service-oriented approach, with a focus on listening and understanding before solving
  • Practical problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on usability, efficiency, and impact
  • The ability to balance competing priorities and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Comfort moving between big-picture strategy and hands-on implementation and problem-solving
  • The ability to interact at an executive level with vendors, board members, and other external stakeholders
  • A genuine commitment to JF&CS's human services mission

Please note that a cover letter is required. Applications submitted without a cover letter will not be considered.
