We are seeking an experienced Materials Estimator and Sales Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone passionate about the lumber and construction industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive accurate, timely and personalized assistance in estimating and purchasing lumber and building materials. This position requires a deep understanding of construction projects, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide cost-effective solutions. This position is multi-faceted and includes inside and direct customer service. This is a not a work remote or hybrid position.
Essential Functions:

-Consult with contractors and customers on building plans and projects
-Prepare material takeoffs and estimates in a timely manner to be used in construction projects, with or without blueprints provided
-Create sales orders, quotes and invoices accurately with strong attention to detail
-Configure windows and millwork
-Advise customers on the appropriate selection of products
-Place product orders with vendors and verify accuracy of order acknowledgments
-Assist walk-in and phone customers
Other Functions:

-Work with yard personnel in organizing and coordinating loads to be built and delivered
-Take orders at the sales counter and by phone
-Work with accounts receivable to help keep customer account balances current
-Assist and resolve customer requests/issues in a prompt professional manner
-Have the ability to lift heavy, bulky objects as necessary
-Grow sales through relationship management
Qualifications:

-Strong knowledge of lumber and construction materials
-Proven inside sales experience, preferably in the lumber or building materials industry
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members
-Sales driven attitude with a customer-centric approach.
-Ability to maintain relationships with existing customers and prospect new customers
-Strong time management skills
-Problem solving skills
-Knowledge of computer programs necessary for job functions
-Must be organized and can manage multiple tasks and have strong attention to detail
Experience and Education

-High school diploma or equivalent, bachelor's degree in business related field
-Minimum of 2-3 years of building materials industry experience
-General computer knowledge and ability to operate multiple vendor programs
-Knowledge of products sold
-Experience operating a forklift is also helpful, as this will occasionally be necessary
-Knowledge of current building code requirements
-Valid driver’s license
Working Conditions:

-In-person, primarily an indoor office-based role
-Occasional lifting and moving of heavy materials in the yard and in the store
