The Role
The Robotic Applications Engineer supports automation execution teams across plants and shops by resolving robotic technical issues, providing technical direction, standardizing automation processes, and driving continuous improvement. This role works across manufacturing engineering and plant environments to develop, test, and implement advanced robotic process technologies.
What You'll Do
  • Support robotics execution teams across manufacturing centers, shops, and plants
  • Provide on-site and remote support for equipment startup, troubleshooting, diagnostics, reprogramming, and skilled trades interface
  • Respond to systemic issues affecting current production
  • Partner with global standards and research teams to improve robotics standards and support new technology development
  • Lead development and validation of new robotics and vision applications
  • Support advanced robotic technologies including cutting, joining, handling, laser, and vision
  • Support safety system solutions, including DCS
  • Drive common execution across programs through standards rollout, technical forums, lessons learned, and user group leadership
  • Create and maintain robotics execution processes and procedures
  • Evaluate robotic NPP projects and support repair and replace strategies
  • Perform layered audits at key project milestones to ensure compliance with standards and notify leadership of non-compliant solutions
  • Mentor students and new hires and support supplier technical development
  • Provide after-hours downtime support as needed
  • Travel and weekend work may be required, including on short notice

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Strong technical knowledge of robotics, automation processing, and application technologies such as vision, dispense, and welding
  • Extensive experience with Fanuc robots
  • Knowledge of robotic and automation safety standards
  • Experience developing and integrating robotic applications
  • Programming knowledge in Fanuc TP, KAREL, C++, and Python
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountability
  • Ability to provide technical direction, mentoring, and project leadership
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and drive continuous improvement
  • Proven success leading manufacturing robotics assignments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with additional robot manufacturers
  • 2-3 years of plant assignment experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2
  • Experience with manufacturing and industrial automation including material-handling systems, AMRs, cobots, and virtual commissioning
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA Isaac, Omniverse, or similar 3D/manufacturing simulation environments
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter, Siemens Technomatix Process Simulate, or similar tools
  • Understanding of plant floor operations and product design manufacturability
  • Global project experience across regions
  • Ongoing development of technical expertise
  • Recognition for outstanding contributions
