Job description

The Account Manager, New Business Development is a hunter-focused technical sales professional responsible for creating and converting new opportunities in commercial vehicle & niche-market electrification. The role is centered on market development, prospecting, opportunity qualification, and new program capture.
This person will build relationships from the ground up with vehicle OEMs, system integrators, specialty-vehicle manufacturers, and other electrification stakeholders. Success requires the curiosity to understand complex applications, the commercial discipline to qualify opportunities, and the persistence to move prospects from initial engagement through technical alignment, proposal, negotiation, and award.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Proactively identify target accounts and emerging application opportunities across commercial vehicle and niche electrification markets.
  • Develop and execute outbound prospecting plans using industry research, referrals, conferences, trade shows, digital tools, and direct outreach.
  • Engage engineering, program, purchasing, executive, and other decision-makers to uncover business drivers, technical requirements, program timing, and buying processes.
  • Create compelling reasons for prospective customers to engage, including application-specific value propositions and clear commercial outcomes.
  • Maintain consistent prospecting activity and a healthy pipeline of qualified new opportunities.

Market Growth

  • Develop a strong understanding of commercial vehicle and specialized electrification applications, market structure, customer ecosystems, and technology trends.
  • Assess opportunity fit based on application requirements, revenue potential, timing, strategic value, competitive position, resource needs, and probability of award.
  • Disqualify low-value or poorly aligned pursuits early and focus internal resources on opportunities with a credible path to profitable growth.
  • Build account-entry and capture strategies for priority prospects, including stakeholder mapping, competitive positioning, milestones, risks, and next actions.
  • Provide market feedback to guide product strategy, roadmap priorities, and go-to-market decisions.

Technical Sales & Product Knowledge

  • Leverage strong technical understanding of the Company's products (e.g., electric motors, motor controllers, or related systems) to communicate value propositions effectively.
  • Interpret customer specifications and requirements, translating them into commercially viable solutions in coordination with internal Engineering and Production teams.
  • Present and explain complex technical and commercial information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, and technical discussions to position the Company as a trusted partner.

Quoting, Pricing & Contract Management

  • Prepare, present, and negotiate commercial proposals in alignment with Company policies and profitability objectives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop competitive pricing strategies that reflect market conditions and customer value.
  • Ensure that all quotations, contracts, and orders comply with internal review procedures and organizational standards.
  • Monitor contract execution and ensure alignment between customer agreements and Company deliverables.

Sales Forecasting & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate opportunity data and forecasts within CRM tools.
  • Provide timely, detailed short- and long-term sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and strategic insights to management.
  • Track performance metrics and contribute to strategic planning by analyzing market and customer trends.
