What you will do

At Johnson Controls, we create smart, healthy and sustainable buildings that help customers achieve better outcomes through reliable project delivery, strong communication, and disciplined execution.

In this role, you will work closely with internal teams and clients to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects that contribute to operational success and long-term customer value.

The Project Manager, working under the direction of the Program Manager, provides oversight for a portfolio of projects executed and managed by Johnson Controls. You will serve as a key point of contact for project-related communication, help resolve operational issues, and support the delivery of projects on time and within budget.

How you will do it

  • Provide oversight and day-to-day coordination for a portfolio of assigned projects.

  • Communicate project status, risks, milestones, and action items to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Serve as a single point of contact for clients on project and operational issues assigned by the Program Manager.

  • Perform periodic project and program reviews and recommend improvements.

  • Sequence projects, adjust timelines, and update scope documents to support delivery objectives.

  • Align operational support activities with client objectives and expected outcomes.

  • Establish standards, policies, and processes that support consistent execution.

  • Ensure proper resource alignment across individual projects.

  • Facilitate communication between the client and Johnson Controls internal stakeholders.

  • Maintain regular contact with clients to understand perceptions, needs, challenges, and business opportunities.

  • Monitor project progress, critical activities, resources, and timelines, and escalate issues when needed.

  • Create project documentation such as playbooks, standards, and installation guides for assigned projects.

  • Support strong customer satisfaction while advocating for the client and reinforcing program improvements.

  • Own project plans from initiation through execution, keeping priorities, scope, and timelines clear and current.

  • Initiate program projects with the right support in place andown outcomes with accountability, safety, and integrity.

  • Monitor performance against plan, identify gaps early, and take action to keep work moving.

  • Track benefits so they are identified, measured, and realized over the life of the project.

  • Help identify risks, maintain visibility on issues, and drive practical solutions with the right stakeholders.

  • Provide support, mentoring, and guidance to field project managers, installation managers, and technicians.

  • Report project status to the Program Manager and Division Operations Manager with clear, timely communication.

  • Implement and operate a project-controlled environment where responsibilities, documentation, and follow-through are well defined.

  • Develop and maintain a project scoreboard to support transparency and decision-making.

  • Stay close to the work and remove obstaclesso clients and field teams can move forward without delay.

  • Improve every day through candor and problem-solvingby reviewing results, learning from project reviews, and strengthening processes.

  • Win as one teamby building trust across client, program, and field partners and valuing diverse perspectives.

What we look for:

Required:

  • 3-5 years physical security experience, including regular interface with general contractors, property managers and client stakeholders. Thorough understanding of both installation and service elements of operational performance.

  • Entry skill levels with MS Project or Smart Sheet, to be used to maintain accurate and current project timelines for publishing to client.

  • Excellent leadership skills, minimum 3+ years of experience in managing professionals, with thorough understanding of permitting and union complexities.

  • Self-starter, ability to review processes and instill continuous improvement methodologies, including institution and execution of a formal quality assurance program.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills. Ability to lead and participate in meetings, representing Johnson Controls.

  • Technical expertise required - certification or exposure to enterprise-wide access control and video systems or ability to learn these skills.

  • Organizational skills, ability to adjust labor efforts to fluctuating demands. Working closely with sales and program management leadership, exploit Johnson Controls organization to bring thought leadership to the client.

  • Contribute to QBR efforts for the client.

  • Desired experience/background in IT industry and engineering.

  • Project management certification desired - if not present, will be enrolled in certification process.

Preferred

  • B. S., or equivalent industry experience performing functional project management in a complex physical security environment preferred.

  • Experience servicing clients in the power utility / regulated public sector preferred.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $89,000- 134,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
