Position Purpose

 The Risk Management Coordinator-HPL/GL/WC  serves in a support role to the professional liability and workers comp staff and Treasury Department. The individual in this role is responsible for most of the clerical work for this group but also performs assigned tasks as requested/directed.

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Perform administrative functions to support the Risk Management and Treasury Department. 

  • Assists hospitals and HPL/WC staff with information used for analysis of occurrences/incidents. 

  • Issues litigation hold on appropriate claims and performs follow-up with hospitals and ITG. 

  • Completes referrals to TPA/defense counsel/other entities in a timely manner. 

  • Prepares and submits assigned required reports. 

  • Completes filing for HPL/WC staff and performs data entry. 

  • Stays informed via periodicals, industry-related materials and associations. 

  • Understands and utilizes company resources where appropriate. 

  • Maintains Monthly Incident Summary Database 

  • Serves as departmental liaison with document storage companies. 

  • Understands different depts. and their role in the corporate office. 

  • Develops strategies and aligns work to achieve goals. 

  • This position must sit at our Home Office in Birmingham, AL 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public policy, hospital administration, or a related field required 

  • Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience in patient care, public policy, health care administration, business administration, legal support for insurance/claims investigation, and/or settlement.
