Job description

About the Role
As a PR & Media Relations Specialist, you help bring communications strategies to life through media relations, press materials, research, monitoring, and campaign coordination. You partner closely with communications leaders, client teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support earned media programs that strengthen brand visibility, build credibility, and drive meaningful business outcomes.
This role is ideal for someone who is curious about the media landscape, highly organized, and excited to help tell compelling stories on behalf of clients. You'll contribute to media outreach efforts, monitor industry conversations, track campaign performance, and help ensure communications programs run smoothly from planning through execution.
As AI continues to transform communications and media relations, you embrace tools that accelerate research, monitoring, reporting, and content development while recognizing that relationship-building, strategic thinking, and sound judgment remain essential to successful PR outcomes.
Responsibilities
Here are some, but not necessarily all, of your responsibilities:
Conduct media research and build targeted media lists. You research journalists, media outlets, editorial calendars, podcasts, newsletters, and industry publications to identify opportunities for client coverage. You build and maintain targeted media lists, ensuring outreach efforts are focused, relevant, and aligned with campaign objectives.
Support media outreach and press materials. You assist in developing press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, briefing materials, award submissions, and media pitches. You help ensure all communications are accurate, on-brand, strategically aligned, and ready for distribution.
Monitor media coverage and industry conversations. You track media coverage across traditional, digital, social, and industry-specific channels. You compile coverage reports, monitor competitor activity, identify emerging trends, and share insights that help clients and internal teams stay informed and responsive.
Coordinate PR campaigns and communications initiatives. You help manage the day-to-day logistics of communications programs, including distribution schedules, editorial calendars, media follow-up tracking, event coordination, reporting, and project management. Your attention to detail helps ensure campaigns are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Collaborate across teams to support client success. You work closely with communications leaders, strategists, creatives, project managers, and client partners to align PR efforts with broader marketing and business objectives. You contribute ideas, share insights, and help ensure communications initiatives support larger campaign goals.
Leverage AI and emerging technologies thoughtfully. You use AI-powered tools to support research, media monitoring, reporting, content development, and workflow efficiency. You understand that technology can improve speed and scale, while human judgment remains critical when evaluating opportunities, navigating media relationships, and shaping effective communications strategies.
What You'll Need
  • 2-5 years of experience in public relations, communications, media relations, journalism, marketing communications, or a related field
  • Experience supporting media relations, earned media campaigns, or communications programs
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and channels
  • Experience developing or supporting press releases, media pitches, briefing documents, and other communications materials
  • Strong research skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Familiarity with media monitoring, media database, and reporting tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Agency experience preferred
  • Healthcare and/or regulated industry experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with AI-powered research, monitoring, and content tools is a plus
  • A proactive mindset, intellectual curiosity, and passion for storytelling
