SUMMARY

The Energy Engineer II will perform all aspects of facility surveys, commissioning studies, energy analysis and energy modeling as part of an energy consulting team. The successful candidate will work with associates and management to pursue and execute engineering and technical projects involving the analysis, verification, design, and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with engineering staff to conduct level I, II, III energy audits per ASHRAE standards as well as whole-building energy modeling of multiple asset types
  • Conduct feasibility analyses of renewable energy generation projects for real estate applications
  • Write, review, and edit technical reports
  • Perform field inspections and observe/perform functional performance tests
  • Project Management:
    • Begin to mange a small portfolio of projects on time, on budget, and with technical proficiency;
    • Ensure the technical quality, accuracy, and managerial aspects of projects
    • Plan project activities, update project forecasts, and maintain accurate records of project milestones
    • Communicate project budget, check hours booked, provide task training, oversight, and QC
    • Assist with project invoicing, forecasting, and other project management tasks
    • Attend internal and external meetings as required
    • Review contractor submittals
    • Identify and communicate project staffing needs 
    • Report project % complete
  • Maintain target utilization rate
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and company mission, vision and values
  • Timely response to client e-mail and phone messages
  • Work effectively with both internal project teams and external clients

     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

    • Highly organized with excellent communication skills
    • Must be able to read, write, speak & comprehend English
    • Excellent math and problem solving skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
    • Excellent organizational skills; and,
    • Demonstrated competence in technical subject matter
      • Thorough knowledge of building automation systems, building envelope, and lighting systems

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and at least 3 years of experience in energy efficiency and /or performance contracting, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of related experience
    • Engineer in Training (EIT) is a plus
    • 1 year of experience using energy modeling programs such as eQuest, EnergyPro and/or Energy Plus
    • 1 year of experience conducting energy analyses of building systems, including HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, variable speed drive applications
    • Prior client and project management experience

       PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

      • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen
      • Travel  25%
      • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
      • Ability to work outdoors and in unconditioned mechanical rooms on occasion

      Compensation:

      Salary range is $80,000 - $115,000 This is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role.

      The pay scale for this role considers a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note, the disclosed pay scale estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic location where the position may be filled. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive bonus program which is dependent on various factors, including, but not limited to, individual and organizational performance.
