This full-time position is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility while also requiring visits to our outpatient office as needed. You will be part of a supportive and multidisciplinary team that includes healthcare professionals who collaborate to create comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs. Regular working hours are set from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, ensuring a balanced work-life integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents, determining their specific emotional and psychological needs.
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at addressing the unique emotional challenges that come with aging and life transitions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor personalized treatment plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Educate families and staff about strategies to support the emotional well-being of seniors, fostering a holistic approach to care.
  • Provide specialized grief counseling and support for residents and their families facing terminal illness and end-of-life issues.
  • Design and implement cognitive stimulation programs that encourage mental acuity and engagement among elderly clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work primarily with elderly individuals who are navigating the complexities of aging, including loss, cognitive decline, and significant life transitions. Our client population may exhibit a range of mental health challenges, from depression and anxiety to more complex psychological issues stemming from their experiences. Understanding the diverse backgrounds and cultural sensitivities of our clients will be paramount in providing effective care.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification in New York.
  • A minimum of 4 years of recent experience specifically in geriatric mental health counseling.
  • Additional training or specialization in aging-related mental health topics is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills tailored to connecting with elderly individuals.
  • Ability to conduct thorough mental health assessments and tailor treatment plans accordingly.
  • Knowledge of ethical and legal standards relevant to geriatric mental health care.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience implementing evidence-based interventions for seniors facing mental health challenges.
  • A background in providing counseling services that promote emotional resilience and self-management for elderly individuals.
  • Understand culturally responsive approaches to better serve diverse populations in the geriatric age group.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $95,000 annually, complemented by a sign-on bonus. We prioritize the well-being of our employees and offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • An employee assistance program providing confidential counseling and mental health support.

  • Flexible work arrangements to foster a healthy work-life balance.
  • Health savings accounts or flexible spending accounts to help manage healthcare expenses.
