Job description

SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department; including accurate and timely processing of A/P, A/R and Job Cost. The role involves identifying and driving process improvement including the monthly WIP process (percentage of completion accounting). The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of project cost accounting and develop partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure accurate job financial reporting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise, coordinate and perform monthly close functions
  • Monthly review of general ledger for accuracy and completeness in accordance with GAAP
  • Responsible for evaluating, maintaining and improving internal control structure
  • Build, motivate and develop accounting team
  • Coordinate training programs for new staff and identify training needs for current staff
  • Participate in analysis of monthly financial reporting
  • Manage accounting for fixed asset assets and capital expenditures
  • Work collaboratively with CFO on various accounting projects, annual budgeting, annual audit and month-end reporting
  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable
  • Cash forecasting

Knowledge and Skill Requirement

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project cost control, percentage of completion accounting and expense recognition
  • Solid leadership skills and the ability to interface with and collaborate with senior executive management
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in computer skills including MS Suite software.
  • Experience with manufacturing accounting systems is valuable. ERP implementation experience a plus

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • Experience in Manufacturing Accounting is a must
  • CPA/CCIFP preferred or working toward certification
  • 5 plus years in construction/manufacturing accounting role, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform general office administrative activities.
  • Must be able to lift and occasionally move 15 lbs.
  • The position requires working extended hours when required
