The shop produces gears from 1 inch to 140 inches in diameter for mining, marine, oil & gas, renewable energy, power generation, and other heavy industries, backed by roughly $10 million invested in machinery over the past five years. This is a first-shift leadership role with real ownership over process improvement, staffing, and on-time delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead continuous improvement across the Milling and Turning departments to maximize production efficiency
  • Improve tooling, machining, and operator efficiency using Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes for your areas of responsibility
  • Track and evaluate individual and overall unit productivity
  • Champion quality at the source and lead defect-reduction efforts
  • Schedule the workforce, workflow, and equipment layout for maximum efficiency, and coordinate with other departments to keep production moving
  • Train machinists and continually improve workforce productivity
  • Ensure customer requirements and ISO 9001 quality standards are met
  • Enforce safety, housekeeping, and PPE compliance, and use strong interpersonal skills to resolve operator concerns

What We're Looking ForRequired

  • Bachelor's degree, or commensurate experience, in manufacturing
  • Previous work experience in a machine shop (milling, turning, grinding, cutting)
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of precision measurement tools

Preferred

  • Continuous improvement experience, including Six Sigma
  • Gearing experience
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge
  • Union shop experience
  • Bilingual in Polish and/or Spanish

Pay, Benefits and Schedule
