Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Teradata Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our enterprise Teradata environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Teradata database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and system upgrades. This role requires close collaboration with development, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal performance of mission-critical data warehouse systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain Teradata database environments.
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and performance, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Perform database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Manage user accounts, roles, profiles, and security permissions.
  • Execute Teradata upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Perform database space management and capacity planning.
  • Analyze and tune SQL queries for optimal database performance.
  • Monitor workloads using Teradata workload management utilities.
  • Troubleshoot database, connectivity, and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with ETL, BI, Data Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to support business applications.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security and governance standards.
  • Participate in on-call production support as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Teradata Database Administrator.
  • Strong experience with Teradata architecture, utilities, and administration.
  • Proficiency in:
    • Teradata Database Administration
    • Teradata Viewpoint
    • Teradata Parallel Transporter (TPT)
    • FastLoad, MultiLoad, FastExport, BTEQ
    • Teradata SQL
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Strong understanding of performance tuning and workload management.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Knowledge of shell scripting or automation scripting.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Teradata Vantage.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data warehouse environments.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools such as Informatica, DataStage, or Talend.
  • Experience with monitoring and automation tools.
  • Teradata certification is a plus.
