Registered Nurse needed to fill this role

The Education Specialist utilizes various electronic systems and creative teaching methods to develop educational programs to support the mission of the organization. Utilizes multi-generational education principles and writing skills in curriculum development and to evaluate program effectiveness. Participates in the department strategic planning process and goal accomplishment.

Education:

  • Associate's Degree in nursing, business, liberal arts, or other field of study

Experience:

  • 3 years In a nursing, Allied Health, or educational role and relevant experience working with teams and accomplishing department initiatives. Working in a professional development or informatics role in a healthcare setting and experience in planning, developing, and presenting educational programs is preferred

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal, written communication, teaching and presentation skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong detail orientation, problem solving skills
  • Responsible for consulting, planning, developing, and implementing educational programs.
    • Partners with interdisciplinary departments to identify specific needs and promotes a collaborative approach to learning and integration of resources.
    • Constructs curriculum, course descriptions, objectives, and evaluation tools consistent with objective writing standards and multi-generational approached to learning.
    • Provides educational offerings to support organizational and process improvement needs, regulatory requirements, and periodic needs assessment.
    • Provides Electronic Health Record training for staff and Providers while keeping abreast of computer documentation updates.
    • Provides training and coordination for nursing and allied health education rotations.
  • Provides learning experiences for staff and Providers utilizing various teaching methods/techniques/systems.
    • Facilitates orientation according to established schedules and participates in annual competency training and validation.
    • Uses interactive principles in the development of educational materials and competency validation methods such as return demonstration, case study, direct observation, and exemplars.
    • Creates electronic learning materials and builds courses for use within the learning management system.
    • Provides education on electronic learning programs, electronic resources and Microsoft Office programs.
    • Provides continuing education offerings/programs, which meet the criteria of American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), or other accrediting bodies.
  • Participates in department strategic planning to support organizational initiatives.
    • Develops and completes goals, methods, timelines.
    • Updates leadership and the team on strategic plan progress and adjusts as needed. Utilizes department specified programs for plan documentation.
    • Provides education to staff in the use of available resources such as electronic learning systems/programs, literature, and department communications via SharePoint, newsletter, calendar, and committee information.
    • Reviews education program evaluations and follow-up surveys to assess program outcomes and need for improvement, implementing changes as indicated in collaboration with the team and leadership.
