What You'll Do

As a Senior or Principal Engineer at Toole Design, you'll lead the design and delivery of high-quality multimodal transportation projects that make communities safer and more connected. You'll guide civil design on everything from roadway reconstructions and urban streetscapes to signature trail corridors-collaborating with clients and interdisciplinary teams from concept through construction. Along the way, you'll mentor junior staff, lead stakeholder engagement, and turn complex challenges into creative, buildable solutions. You'll contribute to business development and build your reputation as a trusted expert at a company that believes in promoting from within.

What you bring:

  • A Professional Engineering license in OH (other Midwest states a plus)
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: MicroStation (including OpenRoads), AutoCAD (including Civil 3D)
  • 10+ years (Senior Engineer), 15+ years (Principal Engineer) experience

It would be a plus if you have any of the following:

  • 5+ years managing projects and/or design work, developing construction documents and/or public agency construction administration
  • Strong civil engineering background with experience in roadway, drainage, geometric design, 3D modeling, and accessible public spaces
  • Proven track record delivering large/complex projects on time and within budget
  • Experience preparing transportation and local agency permit documents
  • Skill leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating utilities, ROW, lighting, signals, and landscape/hardscape layouts
  • Interest in multimodal and active transportation design
  • Experience in business development, including networking at public, agency, and industry events (e.g., ACEC, ITE, ASHE, ASCE)
