Summary

Manages and oversees facility's ELP Design function by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure accurate and quality design of engineered floor wood trusses by ELP Designers.
  • Direct method of generating truss placement plans, identifying the location of the individual truss designs.
  • Assist in resolving difficult engineering issues and questions. -Provide motivation and support to ELP department.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge of applicable building codes including live loads, dead loads, concentrated loads, wind speed and seismic reactions; Communicate this information to subordinates.
  • Collaborate with outside sales personnel and customers to finish accurately completed, safe, and quality structures.
  • Obtain feedback regarding customer satisfaction and apply results to improve ELP function as a whole.

Supervisory Responsibilities Directly manages the facility's ELP Design function. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must complete training and be certified by manufacturer, CAD and design school.
  • Other Skills and Abilities Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are necessary. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities are essential. The ability to collaborate with salespeople and other designers in a close-knit setting is required.
  • Other Qualifications Two years of Primecad experience required. Must have working knowledge of blueprints and understand loads associated with structures. Must possess practical knowledge of wood frame construction. CAD experience.
  • Prior managerial experience preferred.
