OnTrac is hiring a HUB Director, Hub Operations!

Location: 565 S Pinnacle Drive, Romeoville, IL 60446

Compensation: The expected starting base pay range for this position is $180,000. - $225,000. with full potential base salary range over a successful candidate’s tenure in the position of $180,000. - $270,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and other job-related factors.

This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, or other incentive compensation in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan of up to a 30% Bonus Target.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm (Hours subject to change based on the needs of the business)

Employment Logistics: 

The Director, HUB Operations is responsible for the financial and operational performance of a 24/7 HUB facility and reports to the VP of Operations. The HUB Director leads day-to-day execution, staffing, and performance management while overseeing safety, security, SOP adherence, and overall operating standards. Most activity occurs between afternoon and midnight hours, so this role requires a consistent on-site presence during late evening and overnight periods. During peak season (November through late December), the HUB runs significantly higher volumes with continuous 24/7 coverage for a 5–6 week period, and the Director is expected to provide strong on-site leadership to support execution and employee needs.

The Must-Haves: 

  • 7–10 years of managerial experience in logistics or a similar industry
  • Extensive knowledge of HUB terminology and operating concepts (e.g., PPH, CCP, process rate, methods)
  • Strong critical thinking skills to determine solutions to daily operational issues in a HUB environment

Your Mission in Motion: 

A summary of key responsibilities for the role is outlined below. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support business objectives. 

  • Lead people operations: Manage hiring, terminations, coaching, development, performance management/discipline, staffing levels, engagement, and recognition for all facility employees.
  • Execute business plans: Partner with operations leadership to create and execute facility plans and strategies aligned to operational goals.
  • Own financial performance: Manage the facility budget and P&L performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities and actions to improve results when needed.
  • Drive cross-functional execution: Partner with support departments to meet operational needs and remove barriers to performance.
  • Improve key metrics: Identify performance gaps, build action plans, and execute against targets to improve results across the operation.
  • Plan for disruption and continuity: Anticipate scenarios that could impede success and establish practical contingency plans.
  • Oversee line haul coordination: Maintain strong partnership with the Line Haul team to support timely and effective HUB execution.
  • Lead safety and security programs: Oversee the safety program and accountability (dock safety, lockout/tagout, conveyor safety) and implement the facility security program.
  • Ensure standards and readiness: Ensure managers follow SOPs, company policies, quality standards, and safety guidelines; maintain required materials and supplies to operate safely and efficiently.
  • Stay connected to the floor: Walk the warehouse regularly to review sort efficiency and safety practices, assist as appropriate, and maintain visible, consistent on-site leadership.
