Job description

Calusa Country Club, located in Bradenton, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Full-Time Equipment Manager! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

They have extensive knowledge of the care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and the maintenance of mowing and grounds equipment. Compensation Information:
Pay rate is based on level of experience.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Safely operates dump trucks, snow removal equipment, snowcats, and snowmobiles to remove, monitor, maintain, groom, and pack the facility during winter operations
  • Aids the course lead in the proper winterization of the golf course
  • Maintains a working knowledge of agronomy programs and the schedule of events
  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots components such as pressure relief and reduction valves, pumps, filtration equipment, pump motors/drives, and communication systems associated with water delivery for the property
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program for all equipment; purchases repair parts and replacement supplies; places orders as needed; and tracks expenses and inventory for budget purposes
  • Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical defects in various types of golf course maintenance equipment
  • Performs mower grinding and sharpening; completes general overhauls of motors, reels; and installs and adjusts braking systems
  • Performs machining or welding work to create fittings used in the repair of maintenance equipment
  • Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs, and parts ordered
  • Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment, as well as automotive apparatus
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and mowing equipment maintenance (including grinding, sharpening, and adjustment)
  • Diagnoses mechanical issues and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance
  • Follows sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible
  • Helps control costs and expenses related to equipment fleet maintenance, including parts purchases, inventory levels, service work, fuel inventories, and related items
  • Aids in the ongoing hiring, training, and coaching of staff
  • Manages seasonal staff in the absence of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent
  • Manages department members that may include, but are not limited to, Assistant Mechanics, Greenskeepers, and Equipment Operators
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance
  • Performs other duties as required
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience (degree preference in diesel mechanics, auto mechanics, or small engines)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., associates may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers, and equipment manuals may be in English)
Working Conditions:
  • Frequently uses hands
  • Regularly stands, walks, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and crawls
  • Frequently lifts, moves, and carries up to 50 pounds; may push or pull up to 100 pounds
  • Works near moving mechanical parts, sharp objects, fumes, and/or airborne particles
  • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions
  • Noise level is moderate
