Shape how Amazon manages tax data at a global scale by translating complex regulatory requirements into actionable data solutions. In this role, you'll bridge the gap between tax compliance expertise and data strategy, ensuring our organization meets regulatory obligations across every jurisdiction we operate in.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and communicate global tax data requirements by synthesizing compliance needs across jurisdictions and translating them into clear specifications that technical teams can implement
- Partner strategically with cross-functional stakeholders including tax, finance, accounting, and technology teams to align on data solutions that meet regulatory requirements at scale
- Bridge communication between technical and business teams by explaining complex tax compliance principles to data engineers and product teams, and helping business stakeholders understand technical capabilities and constraints
- Support the implementation of new data systems and processes by guiding teams through change management, ensuring smooth transitions, and helping stakeholders adapt to new data infrastructure
- Monitor evolving tax regulations and data requirements across global jurisdictions to identify gaps in current solutions and recommend enhancements
A day in the life
You'll spend your time as the connective tissue between our tax, finance, and technology teams. Your day might include collaborating with data engineers to translate tax compliance requirements into system specifications, partnering with regional tax teams to understand jurisdiction-specific data needs, or working with our accounting and financial operations teams to ensure our data infrastructure supports both compliance and strategic decision-making. You'll move fluidly between technical discussions with product teams and strategic conversations with business stakeholders, helping everyone understand how robust tax data architecture enables better compliance outcomes. Beyond routine responsibilities, you'll identify emerging regulatory trends and proactively shape how our data solutions evolve to meet future requirements.
About the team
We are the Global Tax Data organization, and we're reimagining how a company of Amazon's scale manages tax information across the world. Our team brings together tax professionals, data engineers, and financial operations experts with a shared mission: build data solutions that make tax compliance simpler, more accurate, and more efficient. You'll work closely with Global, Regional, and Country Tax teams who rely on our data infrastructure to meet their compliance obligations, as well as with Technology and Financial Operations partners who help us implement these solutions. We're focused on creating scalable, reliable data systems that support Amazon's growth while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance. Joining us means being part of a team that values both deep tax expertise and innovative thinking about how data can solve complex business challenges.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and entries
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA, or J.D.
- Experience in international indirect tax planning and strong understanding of or practical experience with tax laws in other countries
- Experience with VBA, Python, SQL, or other database language

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
