Position Description

The Data Analyst will provide analysis for the US Army Reserve Medical Command. They will analyze maintenance data information in the Global Combat Support System (GCSS-Army) and analyze data processing requirements to plan data processing system that will provide system capabilities required for projected workloads, and plans layout and installation of new system or modification of existing system by performing the following duties.

Essential Position Functions

• Provide data validation services to improve the data integrity of MD/MDS to support accountability and maintenance within GCSS-A for all MD/MDS assigned to units within USARC

• Provide guidance to unit personnel for accurate data input into GCSS-A for MD/MDS based on current Master Maintenance Data File (MMDF)

• Assist USARC units by pulling the GCSS-A MAT-SIT, researching the Medical Sets until MATCAT data and other USARC provided lists.

• Provide guidance on how to correct the Property Book in GCSS-A, including scrubbing existing GCSS-A data, validating the GCSS-A property book number against the United States Army Medical Material Development (USAMMDA) website.

• Assist unit personnel in identifying MD/MDS and provide guidance for accurate data information

• Validate existing work orders in GCSS-A

• Assist unit personnel with training on how to identify or add the support shop and verify the correct work center for work orders

• Assist in the set-up or next level of maintenance support information within GCSS-A as well as assist in developing points of contact (POC) for units to reach out to for assistance, such as Multi-Functional Medical Battalions (MMB), Brigades, Regional Training Site (RTS)-Medical Sites, USAMMA Depots and agencies, and the 6th Medical Logistics Management Center (MLMC).

• Validate unit’s data process for medical (Class VIII) repair parts transactions

• Understand and learn any new procedural changes for ordering medical repair parts within GCSS-A

• Assist with overseeing the inputting of all operator level data validation processes

• Validate man-hour accountability reporting processes

• Enters data into computer terminal to store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements

• Trains users to use new or modified equipment.

Education/Experience

• Three years’ experience working in an Army Medical Maintenance work environment

• Three years’ experience processing MD/MDS data using Army systems

• Two years’ experience in GCSS-A at the operator level

• Familiarity with USAR processes and procedures.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but additional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. One (1) year of recent GCSS-Army operator level experience with USAR STAMIS business processes.

• Must have good oral and written communication skills and be familiar with word processing, spreadsheets and able to provide written After-Action Reports. Previous Military experience desired.

• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

• Basic math skills in addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must have some knowledge with the following concepts and tools: Basic computer skills, Automated Logistics/Data Analyst_2017_Version 2

Physical Requirements for the Role

This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to work at a computer for extended periods, including viewing monitors, using keyboards, and operating standard office equipment. The role may require occasional standing, walking, and minimal lifting (up to 10 pounds).
