We are an independent, global, one-stop-shop focused on delivering Central Laboratory Services that are tailor-made, timely and flexible to meet the evolving study demands of traditional to increasingly complex trials. Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.
Job Summary
The Manager of Project Management is responsible for assisting the department director with program implementation and evaluation of the Project Management division of LabConnect. This position may also manage and/or delegate responsibility for day-to-day oversight of ongoing clinical trial study projects. The Manager of Project Management assigns clinical trials study management responsibilities to a designated Project Manager, along with performing duties as project manager on their own assigned project manager projects. Working closely with Project Managers, the Manager of Project Management will direct activities to meet our client's specification and ensure quality deliverables on time and within budget. The Manager of Project Management may also serve in the capacity of a Project Manager to direct specific new clinical trial studies.
Essential Duties and Other Responsibilities
  • Serves as escalation point of contact for management issues related to clinical trials.
  • Writes, reviews and approves Project Management SOPs.
  • Works closely and in coordination with laboratory management and directors in support of clinical trials.
  • Direct supervision of Project Managers, Associate Project Managers, Project Coordinators and their respective clinical trials projects.
  • Assigns clinical trial protocols to Project Managers, following work requirements, to ensure quality and timely delivery of service.
  • Assists in hiring and assignment of Project Managers, Associate Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
  • Supervises, coaches, develops, and retains talented associates.
  • Analyzes and records personnel and operational data and writes related activity reports.
  • Meets with directors and other managers/supervisors to stay informed of changes affecting operations.
  • Ensures that all laboratory responsibilities outlined within the protocol are carried out in an efficient and professional manner and in compliance with laboratory policies.
  • Oversees creation of training materials for investigators and internal staff.
  • Oversees development of protocol and visit specific requisitions.
  • Interfaces with laboratory, customer service, business development, external project management, and information technology and data management personnel.
  • Represents LabConnect at bid defense meetings.
  • Provides departmental status updates to the department director.
  • Participates in internal quality assurance unit as a department head or SME as it pertains to client complaints, incidents, planned and unplanned deviations.
  • Performs Managerial duties approximately 50% of the time and Project Management duties approximately 50% of time for the first six months in the role; after six months in role performs Managerial duties approximately 80% of time and Project
  • Management duties approximately 20% of time. The percentage of time is subject to change based on business needs and leadership direction.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks as necessary or as assigned.

  • Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and three years related clinical or laboratory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum three years central laboratory experience strongly preferred. Must be experienced in customer service and possess excellent organization and interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. Must be adept at stress management.

  • Certificates and Licenses:
  • Certification as an ASCP Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician is preferred. PMP certification preferred. Licensed Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician (or equivalent) in the state of Tennessee preferred.

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend technically complex data transmission specification agreements, client correspondence, meeting agendas and meeting notes. This position requires that the incumbent be able to communicate with peers at client pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms in a professional manner that reflects well upon LabConnect, LLC.
  • Mathematical Ability:
  • Ability to apply simple mathematical skills and abstract thinking in a logical and organized manner.
  • Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to solve practical problems, investigate client database issues using standard query tools and from the data generated draw correct and logical conclusions, use test scripts to validate newly authored project-specific data transmission routines; the ability to understand a variety of technical instructions, mathematical and diagrammatic representations of data in both an abstract and concrete manner.
  • Computer Skills:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including word processing software, spreadsheet software, database software and knowledge in the use of standard query tools is preferred.
