Summary
Pay: $14.00-$20.00/hour, based on education and experience


Schedule: Monday-Friday


The Part-Time Classroom Support Teacher supports Lead and Assistant Teachers and classroom teams in the daily operations of Beacon Hill Schools, a preschool serving children from infancy through school age. This role helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment while staff absences are covered. 

This position is PRN and flexible, with scheduling that varies week to week based on school needs and support teacher availability. It is ideal for individuals seeking part-time work under 30 hours per week, including those with other work or school commitments including college students in our college town community. 


Responsibilities

Classroom Support & Teaching 

  • Assist Teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom routines in accordance with the Frog Street curriculum and Beacon Hill Schools best practices 
  • Step into classrooms as needed to maintain continuity of care during staff absences as directed 
  • Engage children in hands-on, play-based learning experiences that promote creativity, exploration, and growth 
  • Provide individualized attention and support to children as needed 

Child Development & Care 

  • Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times 
  • Support children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development through active participation in classroom activities 
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, meals, rest time, and daily caregiving routines 

Team Collaboration 

  • Work collaboratively with Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and administration in a variety of classroom settings 
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, and colleagues 
  • Adapt quickly to different age groups, routines, and classroom expectations 

Classroom Management & Compliance 

  • Follow all DECAL state licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and Beacon Hill Schools policies 
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment 
  • Support daily parent communication as directed by classroom staff

Schedule & Employment Type 

  • Average less than 30 hours per week 
  • Schedule varies based on staffing needs such as employee absences or coverage needs 
  • Substitutes are scheduled based on both availability and school demand 
  • No guaranteed weekly hours 

Qualifications 

  • Interest in early childhood education and supporting young learners 
  • Dependable, flexible, and comfortable working in multiple classrooms and age groups 
  • Warm, patient, and responsive to children’s needs 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills 
  • Previous experience working with children preferred but not required 

Position Requirements 

  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening 
  • CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) 
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and engage physically with children throughout the day
