Bank of America is looking for an Experience Design (XD) III, Design System Product Designer that will be responsible for leading and raising craft delivery quality and efficiency for an interdisciplinary experience design team, shaping the next evolution of our enterprise-scale design system and AI-enabled software delivery ecosystem.

The role will be an AI-first senior design system architect and individual contributor directly accountable for delivering both strategic and tactical solutions like foundations, components, and features that support how our digital products are conceived, designed, and delivered. Success in this role requires enabling AI-powered workflows that span the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements and ideation through prototyping, engineering handoff, and launch. Accountable to shape and scale the intersection of design systems, AI, and product delivery by advancing machine-readable design standards, prompt-to-prototype workflows, and emerging technologies that enable experience designers, product teams, and engineers to build more efficientlyand continuously improve enterprise-wide adoption of AI and agentic processes, best practices, and frameworks. Establishes design as a strategic business capability and competitive advantage, while ensuring roadmap projects are delivered with high standards on experience quality, execution, and professionalism, delivering on-time and on-budget. And contribute to a culture of creativity, accountability, discourse, and measurable key results.

This job is responsible for leading multi-disciplinary Experience Design (XD) delivery, processes and functions for end-to-end digital experiences. Key responsibilities include persuades with a vision across different stakeholders, executing without day-day direction from leaders, and developing digital experience solutions independently at scale. Job expectations include applying subject matter expertise and acumen to define and deliver solutions across multiple initiatives that meet client needs and solve business problems.

As an Experience Design (XD) III, Product Design you will:

  • Lead, design, optimize and deliver useful and elegant, best-in-class digital experience AI-enabled design and development workflows working from a multidisciplinary, holistic perspective from concept to execution and implementation.

  • Design, prototype, test, and refine experiences that demonstrate how AI can accelerate requirements gathering, ideation, design exploration, validation, and delivery.

  • Apply a broad range of product and content design capabilities to drive the evolution of the design system and software development lifecycle as a scalable platform for product creation, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and usability across experiences.

  • Lead with vision to influence, navigate, and partner with a diverse set of project stakeholders and cross-functional teams - including product management and engineering. Build influence and partnerships with stakeholders outside of ongoing project work.

  • Collaborate with product design, content design, design research, design operations, and design technology, serving as a strategic thinker and hands-on practitioner who can influence across functions, and drive adoption of new practices across a complex enterprise environment.

  • Independently develop and deliver advanced experience design frameworks that enable productivity, design system adoption, rapid prototyping, ideation, and implementation through of a full suite of deliverables including information architectures, interaction models, user flows mapping user journey, high fidelity prototypes, design system specifications and reusable coded solutions.

  • Translate complex business, user, and technology requirements into actionable experience solutions and reusable patterns leveraging and anticipating internal and external best practices and methods including emerging AI capabilities, design system standards, development tooling, and scalable approaches to design governance, accessibility, quality measurement, and experience consistency across portfolios.

  • Conceptualize design patterns, multi-modal interactions and digital experiences across conversation interfaces, web, mobile web, and native apps (iOS and Android).

  • Champion leveraging data, design pattern heuristics, feedback from user research, evaluative testing, analytics, and A/B testing across the employee and customer journey, from rapid user testing to usability studies.

  • Significant contribution to team strategy, serving as a craft expert that develops scalable frameworks, component libraries, repositories, standards, evolves design system documentation and knowledge management practices.

  • Leads design critique and mentors designers, increasing efficiency through repeatable methods, and elevating conversations as a resource to other designers.

  • Lead evaluation and benchmark of existing reusable patterns, heuristics, and competitive insights to move discussions forward.

  • Ability to anticipate questions, lead and facilitate discussions and workshops, and model ability to shift across portfolios and programs.

  • Lead decisively through ambiguity and influence in collaborative settings, building and nurturing strong relationships with minimal guidance, managing time and expectations with stakeholders across the organization and XD, staying knowledgeable on project and product details.

  • Proficient in analyzing existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce friction, and enhance quality through automation and AI-assisted experiences.

  • Model excellent visual, communication, storytelling skills. Demonstrate thought leadership by challenging the status-quo, present independently and navigate questions, conceive, pitch, execute creative ideas, patterns, and standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of industry design experience in a role demonstrating multidisciplinary product design, design system expertise, and software development workflow enhancement with a portfolio showcasing your proven expertise.

  • Experience designing multi-channel consumer-facing apps, AI-powered experiences, responsive web and websites including complex system, user, ecommerce, and transactional experiences.

  • Experience and demonstrated success with design-to-development transformation initiatives in driving adoption of design systems, reusable frameworks, tools, standards, platform capabilities, prompt-to-prototype workflows and AI-assisted design across multiple teams or products within large organizations.

  • Experience developing component libraries, token-based systems, accessibility programs, or platform ecosystems, including collaborating with engineering teams on front-end frameworks, developer tooling, automation platforms, or API-connected workflows.

  • Experience leveraging MCP (Model Context Protocol), AI agents, automation, or assistants to improve product design or delivery outcomes.

  • Highly proficient in design, design system, and design-to-code tools such as Figma, Github Copilot, Lovable, Cursor and Claude Code.

  • Expert understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices, and rapid ideation processes like Lean UX, Design Sprints, and Agile.

  • A seasoned track record for working with cross-functional product development, engineering, and design teams to ship customer-facing digital products

  • Ability to lead, leverage, significantly contribute, and advance a design system within brand guidelines.

  • Experience utilizing qualitative, quantitative, attitudinal, behavioral, and analytics data that inform decision-making and experience design.

  • Self-motivated problem solver with a strong work ethic, reliable issue resolution, and time management skills with an intense focus on achieving results.
