What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Manager EPM (Enterprise Performance Management), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Manager EPM, you need expertise in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, typically supported by a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Familiarity with EPM software platforms like Oracle Hyperion, SAP BPC, or Anaplan, as well as relevant certifications, is highly valuable. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills set outstanding candidates apart in this role. These competencies ensure effective performance management, streamlined business processes, and informed strategic decision-making for organizational success.

What is the highest paying managerial job?

The highest paying managerial roles are often executive positions such as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), or Chief Financial Officer (CFO), with salaries frequently exceeding several hundred thousand dollars annually, especially in large corporations. These roles typically require extensive experience, strategic leadership skills, and often advanced degrees or certifications.

What jobs pay 500,000 a year in the US?

In the US, high-level executive roles such as CEOs, CFOs, and other C-suite positions often have annual compensation exceeding $500,000, especially in large corporations. Certain specialized roles like investment bankers, senior surgeons, and successful entrepreneurs can also reach or surpass this income level, often supplemented by bonuses, stock options, or profit sharing.

How does a Manager EPM typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive enterprise performance initiatives?

A Manager EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) plays a pivotal role in coordinating with various departments such as finance, IT, operations, and business units to implement and monitor performance strategies. They facilitate regular meetings, align objectives across teams, and ensure that everyone is working towards common business goals. Effective communication and strong project management skills are essential, as the Manager EPM must translate complex data insights into actionable plans and foster collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders. This cross-functional interaction not only drives performance improvements but also provides valuable exposure to different business areas, supporting career growth.

What are Manager EPM roles and responsibilities?

A Manager EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) oversees the planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis processes within an organization. Many high-paying jobs in these fields emphasize certifications, technical skills, and proven performance rather than formal education alone.

What jobs in the US pay 300,000 a year?

For a Manager EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) role, salaries of $300,000 or more are typically found in senior management positions such as Director or Vice President levels, especially in large corporations or consulting firms. Job description

About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Manager of EPM Systems with a strong blend of technical Oracle EPBCS expertise and a deep understanding of corporate finance, budgeting, and forecasting principles. In this role, you will own the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and long-term roadmap of our enterprise planning applications.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives between the Finance Organization and IT to design and deploy scalable solutions that optimize our forecasting and planning processes.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Roadmap & Prioritization: Define, execute, and own the long-term strategic enhancement roadmap for Oracle Cloud EPM (EPBCS). Act as the primary liaison between corporate Finance, HR, Data teams, and IT to manage the intake pipeline, prioritize enhancements, and deliver scalable planning and forecasting solutions.
  • Cycle & Operational Support Management: Manage, support, and troubleshoot existing EPBCS applications throughout month-end close and forecast/budget cycles. Oversee system health, respond to user-reported issues, and manage ticketing queues to ensure zero disruption to daily business operations.
  • Vendor & External Resource Leadership: Lead collaborations with Oracle support teams for complex issue resolution, upgrades, and system evaluations. Proactively identify opportunities for business process improvement and automation within the EPM ecosystem.
  • Business Analysis & Application Configuration: Gather and analyze business requirements for new planning features or enhancements. Design, develop, configure, and customize EPBCS functionalities (including web forms, dashboards, and data maps) following architectural best practices and system integrity guidelines.
  • Data Integration & Quality Control: Oversee data loads, pipelines, and integrations to ensure impeccable data quality for planning processes. Partner cross-functionally with IT and Data Engineering to manage data flows from core systems (e.g., SAP ERP, Workday, Databricks), validating and reconciling data to ensure absolute accuracy.
  • Performance Optimization & Tuning: Monitor, evaluate, and optimize EPBCS application performance. Lead the review and tuning of calculations, business rules, Groovy scripts, and automated data loads to maintain optimal system response times and swift data retrievals.
  • Change Governance & Release Strategy: Coordinate change requests, environment alignment, and monthly Oracle Cloud release cycles. Conduct rigorous regression testing and impact assessments for seamless deployment into production environments, and communicate system impacts clearly to stakeholders.
  • Security & Compliance Governance: Maintain data confidentiality, internal controls, and SOX/security compliance. Design, provision, and audit security roles, groups, and permissions within EPBCS to safeguard sensitive financial and personnel data.
  • Documentation & Training Programs: Oversee the creation and upkeep of system configurations, operational runbooks, and process documentation. Design user manuals and training materials for new features, conducting training sessions to drive high user adoption across Business Finance.

Qualifications
  • Overall Experience: 10+ years of experience within the Oracle EPM suite (Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting), with a proven track record of managing system enhancements, defining architectures, or leading EPM project workstreams.
  • Oracle EPB Cloud Mastery: 7+ years of practical EPB Cloud experience explicitly configuring and optimizing Financials modules (including Expenses, Revenue, Capex, Workforce, and Project modules).
  • Advanced EPM Development Skills: Deep technical proficiency in Calculation Manager, Business Rules, Calculation scripts, Groovy Scripts, Web forms, Data Maps, and Performance Optimization within Hybrid BSO/ASO application models.
  • Core Essbase Architecture: Strong foundational understanding of Oracle Hyperion Essbase concepts, including ASO/BSO block structures, complex Calculation Scripts, and Load Rules.
  • Data Integration Tools: Expert-level mastery of data integration architectures and utilities (e.g., FDMEE, Cloud Data Management, Data Exchange, and Pipeline orchestration). Proven experience pulling from and reconciling with backend systems like SAP ERP, Workday, and Databricks.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Advanced capability in designing and building reports/dashboards using Oracle Smart View, Financial Reporting, and Narrative Reporting to support executive stakeholder decision-making.
  • Operations & Communication Skills: Highly proficient in managing IT ticketing systems to log, track, and escalate requests. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a proven ability to explain complex multidimensional concepts to non-technical finance professionals.
  • Scripting & Process Automation: Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, or command-line scripting languages utilized for automating EPM batch processing and data loads.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: Demonstrated capability to spot system gaps, actively lead user acceptance testing (UAT), and stay ahead of Oracle’s latest features, features roadmaps, and monthly update cycles.
  • Autonomy & Team Collaboration: Highly self-motivated with the ability to manage a project portfolio independently, coordinate cross-functional teams, and maintain composure during high-pressure planning cycles.
