Role Summary
The Manager, Enterprise Security is responsible for the daily supervision and management of physical security operations on the Vermont and Texas campuses. This includes working with the Enterprise Head of Security on the implementation and oversight of physical security procedures for all National Life locations.
The role oversees the Security Operations Center and assists the Enterprise Head of Security with coordination of security functions as part of emergency preparedness activities within the construct of the overall Corporate Business Continuity Program, including the Corporate Safety Team and emergency response playbook planning and drills. The role may also assist the Head of Security with some functions related to the Corporate Executive Protection Program.
This position reports to the Enterprise Head of Security, and ultimately to the AVP of Facilities & Security.
This position currently offers an onsite work schedule, with the expectation that you will be in the office four (4) days per week during onsite core days. Our current onsite core days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The work schedule type and core days are subject to change with advance notification and manager discretion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the daily activities of internal physical security staff on the Vermont and Texas campuses.
  • Assist with development, support, and enforcement of security related corporate policies.
  • Assist with development and implementation of security plans and programs; ensure all plans and programs are compliant with mandated codes and regulations as well as company guidelines.
  • Act as a contact for vendor agreements, relationships, and personnel related to physical security.
  • Conduct incident investigations including reviewing documentation and interviewing witnesses.
  • Act as a resource to internal and external customers with requests relating to physical security.
  • Lead training sessions and provide reports to leadership.
  • Participate in the development of emergency preparedness plans (EPP) relating to security.
  • Take part in the planning and execution of corporate business continuity planning and emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Manage and enforce the parking program for Vermont campus locations to ensure that parking requirements are being fulfilled.
  • Manage and operate the Security Operations Center, the team that oversees all security cameras and access badge management and monitors intelligence.
  • Assist the Enterprise Head of Security with corporate executive protection duties, which could range from assistance with advance work, to monitoring intelligence during trips, to traveling with the detail.
  • Assist with oversight, guidance, and training of the Corporate Safety Team, a volunteer based organization that is crucial to the company's ability to provide associates with the required resources during emergencies.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of ten years of corporate physical security management experience and/or law enforcement experience.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of physical security to include safety, industry standards, and asset protection.
  • Emergency management experience and strong knowledge of emergency preparedness plans, procedures, and response.
  • Experience with development and implementation of security, executive protection, and business continuity programs within a corporate environment on a domestic/global scope.
  • Experience with incident response and investigations.
  • Experience in law enforcement and/or working with law enforcement, security personnel, and related vendor management.
  • Must be able to work with all levels within the organization to resolve a wide scope of issues, which requires strong verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to make decisions independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems positively and professionally.
  • Working knowledge of security electronics and technology.
  • Intermediate Windows, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Ability to travel 4-6 weeks per year.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Emergency medical service (EMS) or Red Cross certification.

Base Pay Range. The base pay range for this position is the range National Life reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors, including: prior experience and job-related knowledge; education, training and certificates; current business needs; and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.
Additional Compensation and Benefits. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in National Life's discretionary annual incentive programs, subject to the rules governing such programs. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and National Life reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
