Job description

E-Learning Video Producer
About the Project
Obsidian Systems is developing a certification training program for a proprietary software language. We have completed the written modules, code repositories, and supporting documentation. We are now seeking an experienced video producer to transform this material into high-quality, engaging instructional videos.
As our Video Producer, you will collaborate closely with our instructional designer, who owns the content and scripts. Your primary responsibilities will cover all aspects of production, including capturing, editing, and delivering videos that truly help developers learn and succeed.
What You Will Produce
  • Narrated screen recordings of live coding sessions in terminal and IDE environments
  • Animated slide presentations with voiceover
  • Professionally edited videos featuring chapter markers, lower-thirds, timestamps, and accurate transcripts
  • A total of 12 videos, resulting in approximately 4.25 hours of finished instructional content

What This Role Requires
  • Ability to read code and technical documentation to align chapter markers, narration, and timestamps accurately with the learning content
  • Proven experience producing e-learning or technical training videos, including screen recordings and animated slides with voiceover
  • Expertise in capturing clean, readable screen recordings that are legible at high resolutions
  • Strong voiceover direction skills, with experience coaching subject matter experts who may not be seasoned presenters
  • Experience producing and editing video transcripts and metadata
  • Access to and proficiency with your own licensed video production tools; we provide access to our proprietary software, brand assets, and LMS export specifications

Our preferred software includes: Camtasia (or equivalent), Adobe Premiere/After Effects, Adobe Audition or Descript, OBS, and Apple Creator Studio. We are open to your preferred stack, provided you demonstrate expertise.
To Apply
  • Provide two or three examples of software tutorial videos you have produced
  • Share a brief note on your software stack
  • Indicate your availability from July 1 to October 31
  • State your rate

Note: Deliverables include both source/project files and finished MP4s, which will become the property of Obsidian Systems. Please confirm your comfort with this before applying.
