Who We Are

Cornell Forge is a recognized leader in the forging industry with a longstanding reputation for producing complex parts. Our facility is located just south of Chicago in Bedford Park.

We are currently recruiting for a Hot Inspector. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, preferably in steel, forging or machining. Applicants must be organized, self-motivated and able to complete tasks unsupervised.

Essential Functions:

  • Take hourly samples directly from the hammer/press in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Thorough visual inspections of the part for imperfections.
  • Dimensional inspection of parts using a caliper, micrometer, height gage, etc.
  • Hourly non-destructive Magnaflux testing.
  • Promptly inform supervisors of non-conformances during production.
  • Perform dimensional studies, layouts, and capability studies.
  • Accurate entry of tracking information and inspection data into Excel.
  • Assist with corrective action investigations.
  • Using forklift to transport material as needed
  • Practice safe work habits and follow safety rules.

  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a safe manner around hazardous equipment.
  • Strong blueprint reading and comprehension.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
