Quality Inspector (3rd Shift)

Location: Northbrook, IL
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 3rd Shift
Pay: $20-$22/hour

About the Opportunity

Sterling Engineering is partnering with a leading precision manufacturing company seeking a Quality Inspector to join its 3rd shift team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with manufacturing quality inspection experience who enjoys working in a detail-oriented environment and takes pride in ensuring products meet the highest quality standards.

You'll inspect components, assemblies, and finished products using blueprints, measuring equipment, and established inspection procedures while working closely with production and quality teams.

What You'll Do

  • Perform visual, dimensional, mechanical, and functional inspections of incoming, in-process, and finished products
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications
  • Use precision measuring equipment including gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools
  • Verify product quality using approved inspection procedures and sampling plans
  • Document inspection results accurately in ERP systems and quality documentation
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming materials or product defects
  • Support final product inspections and release activities
  • Ensure inspection equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
  • Partner with production and quality teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous quality inspection experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment
  • Understanding of metrology and quality inspection methods
  • Basic computer skills with experience entering inspection data into ERP or manufacturing systems
