About Us:
The Caturus platform was founded by Kimmeridge, an alternative asset manager focused on the energy sector, with subsequent additional investment by Mubadala Energy. Caturus is building an independent, fully integrated natural gas and LNG export platform in the U.S. through a combination of its upstream operations and Commonwealth LNG, a 9.5 Mtpa LNG export terminal in southwestern Louisiana. Together, they will provide low-cost energy on demand with the lowest carbon footprint.
Job Description
This role provides leadership and technical oversight for all mechanical engineering activities across design, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and operations support. The Manager will lead a team of engineers and be responsible for ensuring mechanical systems and equipment are designed, installed, and maintained in accordance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company objectives.
The Manager, Mechanical Engineering drives execution excellence, promotes a strong safety culture, and ensures alignment with project schedules, quality expectations, and budgetary targets.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical direction and performance management
  • Establish engineering priorities and align execution with project and business objectives
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure HSSE standards are integrated into all activities
  • Provide final technical authority for design, specification, and procurement of mechanical equipment
  • Oversee cryogenic systems, static equipment, rotating equipment, piping and fired equipment
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes including API, NFPA, ASTM, ANSI
  • Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, layouts, and specifications
  • Lead mechanical engineering through EPC, commissioning, and startup phases
  • Support project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful execution
  • Review and approve NCRs, modifications, repairs, and engineering deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, regulatory requirements, and company standards
  • Define and implement QA/QC programs for mechanical systems and equipment
  • Lead and participate in risk assessments and design reviews including HAZOP
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Process, and Quality teams to support execution and operational readiness
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and early operations
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, reliability, and system performance
  • Capture and implement lessons learned and best practices

Qualifications
Education, Certificates, and Licenses:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.

Experience:
  • 20+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with progression into leadership or supervisory roles.
  • US Gulf coast LNG project experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience across EPC, Owner, Commissioning, and startup phases.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong leadership, team development, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Deep knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems used in LNG facilities.
  • Proficiency in applicable codes and standards (API, ASME, etc.).
  • Ability to perform and review complex engineering calculations and analyses.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
