This role is responsible for the reliability, performance, and availability of Fidelity's mission-critical Mainframe Db2 z/OS database platforms supporting high-volume brokerage and trading applications.

As a DBA you will play a hands-on, senior technical role supporting day-to-day database administration operations while also influencing database architecture, replication strategy, and platform modernization.

Key Responsibilities

Support and maintain large-scale Db2 databases on z/OS for business-critical trading and brokerage applications

Design, configure, and maintain low-latency data replication using IBM IIDR (Q Rep / CDC) in Active-Active and Active-Passive architectures

Perform proactive performance analysis and tuning to ensure optimal response times and system stability

Lead troubleshooting and rapid resolution of complex, time-sensitive production issues with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail

Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24x7 production support for critical database platforms

Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure partners, and vendors to deliver resilient, scalable database solutions

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Required Qualifications

Extensive hands-on experience managing large, complex mainframe Db2 z/OS database environments

Deep expertise with IBM IIDR replication technologies (Q Rep / CDC), including setup, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting

Strong skills in Db2 utilities, SQL, JCL, and working knowledge of COBOL application interactions

Proven experience supporting mission-critical production systems with strict SLAs

Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across applications, infrastructure, and vendor teams

Preferred / Nice to Have

Experience integrating mainframe data platforms with distributed databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and CockroachDB

Exposure to Kafka and event-driven or streaming data architectures

Familiarity with hybrid environments spanning on-prem and AWS cloud

Experience contributing to platform modernization, automation, or resiliency initiatives.

The Team

The Mainframe DBA team manages Fidelity Brokerage's Db2 z/OS database platform and its integration with distributed and cloud-based data ecosystems.

The team is responsible for the full database lifecycle - from physical design and replication strategy through deployment, performance optimization, capacity planning, upgrades, patching, and access/security management. We work closely with application partners and enterprise technology teams to ensure Fidelity's core trading platforms remain highly available, scalable, and resilient.

Fidelity's Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
