Job description

CLIENT OBJECTIVE
Wonderful family in Aspen, CA is interested to hire an experienced and meticulous Housekeeper. The successful candidate will be highly organized, with a background in large luxury homes and/or five-star hotels. Thorough understanding of wardrobe management, including packing/unpacking is essential. A calm demeanor and ability to recognize boundaries and private space is a must.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Courteous, efficient and accurate handling of phones, doors, messages and deliveries, in the absence of the House Manager

CLEANING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains the overall appearance and high standards of cleanliness throughout the property
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly checklists working alongside House Manager for optimum results
  • Plans, schedules and inspects the work of all housekeeping personnel
  • Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of and ability to care for antiques, crystal, fine china, silver, brass, marble, fine linens, cookware, etc.
  • Responsible for the care of fine furniture, carpeting, antique rugs and textiles
  • Responsible for care of Art (knowing what not to do!)
  • Knowledge and care for stone floors and countertops
  • Empty trash and organize recycling
  • Ensure kitchen surfaces and cabinets are always clean and organized
  • Load/unload dishwasher when needed
  • Schedule complete cleaning of all bathrooms including medicine cabinets, drawers, tile, showers, etc.
  • Manage other periodic cleaning projects such as bookshelves, closets, storage areas, ovens
  • Keep flowers in the house fresh
  • Launder clothes and household linens and change bed linens as directed
  • Basic mending skills i.e.; sewing on a loose button
  • Manage an inventory log of what is sent out and returned from the dry cleaners
  • Personally oversee Principal’s wardrobe and maintain a consistent high standard of closet organization, including purchase of replacement items such as hangers, drawer organizers, shoes trees, etc. as needed
  • Full responsibility for managing Principal’s toiletries including purchasing items to maintain par levels. Always have travel bags stocked & ready
  • Prepare travel checklists for all family members, working in coordination with the House Manager
  • Manage all specific packing and unpacking for Principals, taking photographs, maintaining a full and accurate inventory of all movement to other residences
  • Ongoing training of other Housekeeping staff on service levels and implementation of the highest quality of work.

  • Ability to become “invisible” when family is home; discreet and respectful of Principal’s privacy

  • Comfortable using various high tech devices; smart home system, iPhone, iPad, computers
  • Willing to travel between multiple residences during summer or holidays when requested
  • Energetic and in good health with the physical capabilities to perform duties of position

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION

  • Well-groomed, drug free and physically able to perform the duties of the position. Willing to take a pre-employment physical, psychological evaluation and drug screen when necessary. Understands there is no smoking or drinking on the premises
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Able to work legally in the United States. Valid Driver’s License, with a good driving record and the ability to be bonded
  • Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement to respect the privacy of the Principals and their guests

COMPENSATION AND TERMS

  • Great compensation based on experience.
  • General Schedule: part time, can be 2-3 days per week.
