Job description

We’re looking for a Corporate Campaigns Manager!
*This role is not a marketing, communications or fundraising role, but a movement-building position focused on organizing and running campaigns that challenge and dismantle corporations profiting from the prison industry.*

Worth Rises seeks a dynamic Corporate Campaigns Manager (exempt) to support the organization’s national corporate accountability work. This individual should have experience supporting campaigns that engage corporate finance and capital markets strategies, including divestment. They should be strategic, creative, and excel at executing complex workstreams with flexibility and integrity. The Corporate Campaigns Manager will report to the Director of Corporate Campaigns and will work cross-functionally with policy, research, and communications staff to drive campaign impact.
Worth Rises is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to dismantling the prison industry and ending the exploitation of those it touches. Partnering with directly impacted people, we work to expose the commercialization of the criminal legal system and advocate and organize to protect the economic resources extracted from affected communities and strip the industry of its power. Through our work, we strive to pave a road toward a safe and just world free of police and prisons.
Key Results (Year One)
  • Draft and launch the End the Exception report cards for at least 25 major corporations, evaluating their connections to prison labor.
  • Secure a minimum of 20 commitments for the Drop Vanguard campaign, advancing institutional pressure on Vanguard to divest from private prisons.
  • Lead or substantially support the execution of at least three successful direct actions targeting prison profiteers.
Major Responsibilities
  • Assist the Chief Advocacy Officer and Director of Corporate Campaigns in managing the organization’s corporate campaigns from planning through execution.
  • Lead and support corporate campaigns, including conducting research, facilitating meetings, drafting materials, coordinating direct actions and events, advocating with decision makers, supporting communications, and tracking progress.
  • Build and expand coalitions, working closely with organizational partners and community members, especially those directly impacted to advance our corporate campaign goals.
  • Collaborate with the communications team on campaign-related activities to ensure
  • timeliness, accuracy, and consistency of message for all corporate campaign communications.
  • Effectively manage administrative needs and tasks for campaigns and related events.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned, including rapid response.
Critical Factors for Success
A strong candidate would be a strategic-minded thought partner and motivated self-starter who consistently delivers high-quality work, is an excellent project manager, is a proactive and innovative problem-solver, appreciates direct-feedback, and has the following:
  • At least three years of experience managing corporate campaigns and at least one year of experience leading corporate campaigns, including direct actions, collateral drafting, and digital advocacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and keep complex workstreams moving forward. Regular and disciplined practice of active listening, seeking clarification, and note taking.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted working relationships with partners and community members, which includes delegating effectively. Ideally networked across the corporate accountability and economic justice movements.
  • Ability to productively engage in and defuse conflicts with stakeholders, as necessary.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with professional experience drafting materials for different audiences, including fact sheets, demand letters, petitions, and op-eds.
  • Working understanding of the prison industry and corporate finance and a strong demonstrated interest in learning more.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Genuine commitment to our organizational values: act with integrity, focus on impact, deliver excellence, get it done, and operate with intellectual curiosity (visit worthrises.org/jointhefight).
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for the Corporate Campaigns Manager is $92,000. Worth Rises offers a generous compensation package, including comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, 20 days of vacation time, ten days of personal/sick leave, and three days of bereavement leave in addition to 11 holidays and winter break. Employees also receive a generous 401k contribution match, $75 monthly technical stipend, monthly wellness reimbursement, and dedicated budget for professional development. Finally, we offer retention benefits every five years. We currently operate in a remote-first environment with office options and on an on-video culture.
Worth Rises is an equal opportunity employer, and strongly encourages formerly incarcerated individuals, directly impacted individuals, people of color, members of the disabled community, gender-variant and non-binary individuals, and other members of the LGBTQIA+ community to apply.
