The Sr. Manager - Consumer Insights plays a key role as the voice of the consumer to help the organization make fact-based, consumer-driven decisions that will positively impact the business, products, and the brand. Consumer is at the center of BISSELL core values.
This role is responsible for leading an insights team focused on product development, validation and optimization while also being a thought leader in key organizational strategy areas centered or inspired by the consumer. The role is equally accountable for hands-on insight generation, directly producing high-quality consumer research and analysis, and for standing up new capabilities including AI-powered and automated approaches that enhance the speed, scale, and impact of insights delivery.
Responsibilities
  • Integral to driving strategy & alignment with multi-functional partners to identify key category and initiative insight needs and ensure research drives organizational impact.
  • Represents consumer insights in critical organizational forums and leadership meetings; serves as the consumer and category expert voice in tactical and strategic discussions, communicating through working sessions, presentations, and written deliverables.
  • Directly manages a primary insights team responsible for all product development research including innovation, commercialization, and foundational category insight areas.
  • Builds and develops a high-impact consumer insights team through intentional coaching, clear goal-setting, and creating an environment where strong learning construction, output analysis and storytelling are expected and rewarded.
  • Drives clear research objectives, decision criteria, and analytic strategy to meet business objectives across the team's responsibilities.
  • Expert in qualitative and quantitative research methods; selects the right approach for each business question, manages research suppliers, leverages internal capabilities and drives competitive rigor in vendor selection.
  • Manages a complex global research portfolio, including multiple concurrent projects, within the Consumer Experience budget.
  • Influences others where formal authority doesn't exist; drives the organization to act on consumer findings and make sound decisions about research investment and direction.
  • Champions new and innovative research approaches; leads the adoption of AI-powered and automated tools and workflows to improve the speed, efficiency, and quality of insights delivery.
  • Operates with strong business and category acumen to link research and insights to business decisions and action.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
  • Degree minimum: Bachelor's Degree
  • Specific concentration: Market Research or related degree
  • Experience level: 8+ years' Primary Research experience and 6 years' Insights experience.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING/EDUCATION PREFERRED
  • MBA or related advanced degree preferred

SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Outstanding knowledge of quantitative suppliers and a strong understanding of qualitative research tools and approaches, as well as proven experience in leading quantitative research design, implementation, and analytics.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
