Job description

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the effective management and leadership of Warehouse Operations and staff.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains collaborative partnerships with internal and external departments.
  • Operates in fiscally responsible manner.
  • Accomplishes warehouse human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Plans and manages product distribution activities to achieve company goals; identifies appropriate resources and assigns workload and schedules to them.
  • Oversees daily operations of team members and provides assistance whenever needed.
  • Provides outstanding internal and external customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Analyzes existing distribution procedures and recommends/develops improvements.
  • Organizes the layout of the building for optimal efficiency, including building maintenance.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate shipping to our customers (internal and external).
  • Establishes effective relationships with team members and peers to promote unity and teamwork.
  • Ensures that equipment is functioning properly by enforcing daily inspections, adherence to operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; and requiring preventative maintenance or repairs.
  • Remains current in job knowledge by reading technical publications and participating in educational opportunities/training.
  • Executes the company’s missions, vision and values.

Skills and Competencies

  • Intermediate computer experience to include MS Office and WMS programs.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unties of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Proficient in business management principles and acts ethically at all times.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; diplomatic and professional while solving problems quickly.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Warehouse management/inventory systems experience.
  • Forklift Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to spend the majority of the shift walking, standing, reaching and moving inside the distribution center.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks, read documentation and operate other office machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and must be able to exchange accurate information in a clear manner.
  • Ability to move 10-20lbs occasionally throughout day; and up to 35lbs infrequently.
  • Moderate noise due to material moving equipment.
  • Extreme temperatures: this position will work in a building that is not climate controlled.
