Job description

Position Summary
As a Commercial Marketing Manager, you are responsible for establishing and owning the commercial marketing positioning while enabling the commercial arm of the Canadian Healthcare Commercial Operation. You play a key role in driving commercial alignment and positioning across diverse customer and account types, sales models, and field-based organizations, considering a broad portfolio of products, services, and representatives.
You will approach this role from the customer environment perspective while aligning business unit, product, and service strategies into a cohesive and unified commercial position. Additionally, you are responsible for coordinating the Canadian tradeshow strategy and determining where best to invest.
Your goal is to ensure a clear, consistent, and unified STERIS presence in the marketplace, ultimately influencing customer satisfaction and enhancing commercial effectiveness.
This is a hybrid role with the requirement of working onsite at our Richmond Hill, Ontario, location 2 days per week.
What You'll do as a Manager, Commercial Marketing
Commercial Marketing Strategy (75%)
* Architect a cross product line, cross business, integrated commercial marketing approach and positioning for the STERIS Canadian Healthcare Commercial Operation, including key differentiators, messaging, and commercial marketing enablement (from strategy to execution) to improve Customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and drive profitable impact.
* Ensure clear alignment, understanding, and deployment of positioning and messaging across commercial teams within the Canadian Healthcare Commercial Operation, while aligning with Americas Commercial Operations. Measure success through KPIs and Voice of Customer (VOC) insights, continuously refining strategy year over year.
* Embed the Customer vantage point as primary when presenting the Canadian Healthcare Commercial Operation, from high-level positioning through individual Customer interactions.
* Maintain strong partnerships with product management, R&D, and business unit marketing to understand strategic initiatives and ensure product and service goals are aligned within the commercial marketing strategy.
* Develop and maintain an expert understanding of the Canadian healthcare landscape, including Customer types, account structures (e.g., hospital networks, GPOs, distributors), roles, influences, products and services, and key call points across STERIS business units.
* Identify areas of friction in the Customer value proposition and collaborate with commercial leadership to develop and implement solutions that strengthen a unified brand experience.
* Develop and own a Voice of Customer (VOC) program to capture feedback across Customer segments and inform prioritization and evolution of commercial positioning.
* Monitor Customer and industry trends, regulations, and influencers to ensure alignment of STERIS offerings with market needs.
* Manage the commercial strategy and investment for the Canadian tradeshow environment.
* Maintain a strong understanding of competitor commercial positioning and marketing strategies.
Plan Implementation (25%)
* Create and execute projects, programs, and deliverables to enable the commercial team to position the STERIS Healthcare offering appropriately across audiences, channels, and situations.
* Partner with Sales and Shared Services to develop clear, differentiated messaging and ensure consistency across Customer-facing interactions and deliverables.
* Collaborate with business unit marketing and Shared Services to ensure commercial positioning and messaging are aligned and reflected in Customer-facing collateral and digital channels.
* Partner with Sales Enablement and Sales Training to incorporate Healthcare commercial positioning into training programs and materials.
* Lead and manage projects that improve commercial effectiveness and operational efficiency, prioritizing a pipeline of initiatives while delivering on marketing programs.
Continuous Improvement
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the function, including leadership standard work, key performance indicators, visual management, and root cause countermeasures.
* Serve as Team Leader in Kaizen events and drive execution of resulting action plans.
* Leverage process understanding and value-based prioritization to identify and implement opportunities that improve efficiency and effectiveness across supported businesses.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
* Bachelor degree required
* Minimum 10 years of progressive and varied sales, marketing, and/or public relations experience include:Minimum of 6 years in marketing positions
* Thorough understanding and experience in the Healthcare industry, Customer types, roles, accounts, etc.
* Demonstrated experience and success defining and developing commercial positioning required
* Demonstrated experience and understanding of marketing and commercial organizations and structure

* Experience with tradeshows and/or customer events is preferred
